Who is the all-time most historic, most famed football program in the state of Texas?

No matter what class, what school is the best known for it's football superiority?

Who sets the benchmark for Texas High School Football?

Traditionally speaking: Permian

As of now: Denton Ryan and SLC

Austin Westlake (40)
Southlake Carroll (72)
Houston Yates (71)
Dallas Carter (78)
Austin Reagan (132)
Arlington Lamar (89)
Highland Park (136)

all top nine..

#10, #11 and #12 on the list are side by side neighbors in the San Antonio area separated by just a few miles.

UC Randolph (180)

the numbers in on the right is the national ranking in win percentage with a minimum of 300 games.

Permian is the obvious choice, but how about Austin Westlake or Stephenville?

Really, I just wanted to test my signature...tired of being about the only one without one!

I can't help but think of the following schools. I've listed the years of their state championship game appearances. Losses are in parenthesis. This doesn't mean anything really, but to me it shows a high level of success sustained over a rather lengthy amount of time (20-30 years).

MOJO 65, (68), (70), 72, (75), 80, 84, (85), 89, 91, (95)

Plano 65, 67, 71, 77, (78), 86, 87, (93), 94

Brownwood 60, 65, 67, 69, 70, (77), 78, 81

Judson 83, 88, (90), 92, 93, 95, (96), (98), 02

Cuero (70), 73, 74, (75), (85), (86), 87, (93), (98), (04)

Other schools that come to mind are Sonora, Celina, Southlake Carroll, and Austin Westlake.

MOJO!!!
Who cares about titles and D1 players. How many movies and books have been made about SLC?

Nobody has mentioned D1 players, so I guess none of us care about that!

If by titles you mean state championships, I care and bet most others do because that is the ultimate measure of success. Take away the titles or the pursuit of them and MOJO means nothing.

gotta go with permian, it was amazing watching television broadcasts of their playoff games in the 80's and early 90's....the crown chanting MOJO as they came onto the field, and there was just somethin about ratliff stadium, watching the games there made me wanna play there all my life and i got the chance twice...loved every minute of it...not the same without the turf however

Some school success might be measured in the number of D1 players it produces or the number of titles it has to its name. Permian hasnt done much of both recently, but the point I was trying to make is that even tho Permian isnt the force it once was, it is still one of if not the greatest Texas High School football team.

The MOJO mystique is so great that it has been able to withstand the down years of the past decade.

Great HS players don't always make great college players. Look at Billy Pittman of Cameron Yoe. One of the best HS QB's I've ever seen. Dominated at this level and was far better than just about any D-I prospect that I've seen in a while. But if you don't look a hair over 5-9 and you're trying to play QB, Division I ball is a long way away.

You can't measure greatness by the kids they put in college. North Shore High School is a football factory (last I heard they've put more kids in the NFL than any other school in the country) but hadn't won a state title until just a couple of years ago. Permian, on the other hand, doesn't get many NFL-types but churns out those titles. Who would you say has more tradition?

IMHO MOJO Southlake Carrol comes to mind, but MOJO all the way
