I was thinking about some of the players in majors and realized that quite a few of them came from small towns here in Texas. I know Mike Adams of the Brewers came from Sinton and Ryan Wagner of the Reds came from Yoakum. I'd like to know of all the pros that came from the 3A ranks... so if you know of some pass it on.

We had Dale Murray play for quite a few years from Cuero. Also Rodney Pedraza for a couple before he went ot the Japanese League.

Between 1987 and 1989, Abilene Cooper had 7 players play in major league organizations. Either 4 or 5 of them made it to AA ball and 1 player (Jason Satre) made AAA with the Red Sox, Reds, and Orioles. He was the best HS pitcher I have ever seen. I have never seen anybody else with a 12-6 curve that could drop 3-4 ft and clock in between 88-90 mph. Not to mention a fastball in the mid-high 90's. It was simply a sight to see. Too bad alcohol became so common for him that it kept him from making the show...he was a GREAT one!

also Cory Aldridge from Cooper got called up while with the Braves a few seasons ago for their September roster. I'm not sure what happened to him since then though...

A tangent off the subject, Max's grandson, and David's son Will ALVIS pitched a 11-0 shutout tonight against Coldspring. He had a no-hitter going for several innings. Not bad considering this is his first year to pitch at any level.

Kenneth (Lefty) Pate from Columbus was with he Dodgers... a great left handed pitcher.
Melvin Preibisch and Ernie Koy Sr. from Sealy were with the White Sox and Dodgers before WWII.
Richard Plank, Jackie Heidemann and Cecil Cooper from Brenham all played in the Majors. Cooper was a great first baseman who could really hit. I believe he is now on the Astros coaching staff. He is married to a lady from Sealy.
Rickie Seilheimer also made it to the big league and is from Branham.
I'm sure there are more I just can't think of them.

Doug Rau from Columbus pitched for the Dodgers in the 70's. Pitched in a World Series if I remember right.
