Way out in Region I to answer your question. And that time of Barbers Hills is slighty faster than there state time at last years meet

Yes, the barbers hill time is slightly faster than last years time, they missed the school record by .01 last week which is 3:22.8, they have made a showing this year and are still going. I was the lone senior on the team last year so I'm proud of this years team. So far I think connally has the time to beat of 3:22.74 from what I saw on texastrack.com.

I go to Angelo State and I plan on attending and watching the track meet.

Our boys ran 3:43.8 a few weeks ago.

On a side note, one of the guys in the mile relay is also a distance runner and consistently places in the 3200, 1600 and 800. He generally runs 3200 & 800 with the relay, but depends on the meet which 2.

Canyon Eagles, also in Region 1, have posted a season best of 3:29.7, 2 sophmores, 1 junior, 1 senior.

You can see all of the top high school track and field marks so far this spring at Texastrack.com's Top Performances of 2005 (http://www.texastrack.com/2005%20Track/05_hs_performance_list.htm)

This has nothing to do with your thread but I've been to a couple of 8th grade track meets and Barbers Hill really dominated their district competitors.

bhillfan

Yes, the coaches encourage track pretty highly at BH because they say it can help with any and every sport there is. We are pretty much taught that if we play another sport, we should do track as well, unless you play baseball because the two interfere a lot. It starts to narrow in numbers in high school, like any other school, but overall BH has been pretty dominant in their district the last few years.

keep a close eye on whartons relays. Times don't really mean that much, Wharton has ran in front all year long and its hard to get a fast time out in front by 75 yards.

bhillfan

Running in front is hard to get a good time. BH got their best time last week only because they finally had competition for once which is why some many team drop a lot of times in regionals and state.

Wharton ran 3:21.5 this week and there was NO push. 2nd place ran 3:34!

Heck of a time, looks like they are shooting for another state title.

Stafford did really good in the Mile relay last year but they ran into one problem............................KENNEDALE!! kennedale is still the team to beat they have not posted a 4:01 yet but its coming. Unfortunately they will not be attending Texas Relays this year to defend their title but they will see you at the state meet. Also I know that the Canyon girls will be tough to beat in the relays and the team title at the state meet. Especially since they got the move in from Glen Rose her name is Kuykendall.

Kennedale Times:

4x1 48.6
4X2 1:45
4X4 4:06

kennendale was really fast last year. i remember seeing them wear some leopard type of outfits. you gotta be fast to pull that stuff off.

Jasper had a pretty good 4x100 time this past week at HJ. I heard it was 41.6. I think their 4x400 was 3:27. Maybe one of our JHS students could give us some times.

Coach Spoon is up to his old tricks. Come District, Regional, and State, those time may be coming right on down. :)

By the way, are the HJ results posted somewhere?

yeah was that the one where it was between HJ and Jasper at the end......That was good. no one knew who won it because it was so close but im assuming that jasper won.

o and do yall know who won in the boys long jump? wasn't it like tarkington(gold and Green i think) or something??

Hupernikomen

if it was gold and green that was EC.

tarkington is maroon and gold and does have a good long jumper.

Hupernikomen

but if Jasper's long jumper was there I would bet he won.

BOYS LONG JUMP
1 Reescano Hardin 22' 3" 3/4
2 DeKendrick Gilder Jasper 21' 10" 1/4
3 C. Joseph East Chambers 20' 9" 3/4

found the results on texastrack.com

Reescano went to State meet last year in the triple jump I do believe.

Gilder had a poor meet. He went over 23' 6" earlier in the year if memory serves me correctly.
