I like contemporary country music so I'll go with "No News" by Lone Star.

Not big on the new stuff, so I'll go with the best, yet prolly SHORTEST Country song I've ever heard...

Amarillo by Morning - George Strait

I can remember riding around with my uncles when I was really little, and that song would be playing...

I have heard a song on the radio a few times recently and I am addicted to it but don't know the name or who sings it. Maybe someone knows it. Here's one of the lines.

"funny thing how you walked in at just the right time, cause you're the perfect picture to fit my frame of mind."

I have to find this song.

"Dropkick Me Jesus"
Written by Paul Craft
Sung by Bobby Bare
RCA single PB-10790 (1976)

REFRAIN C

G7 Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal-posts of life

C End over end, neither left nor to right

C7 F Straight through the heart of them righteous up-rights

C

G7 C Dropkick me, Jesus, through the goal-posts of life.

C

G7 Make me, Oh make me, Lord, more than I am

C Make me a piece in Your master game plan

C7

F Free from the earthly tempestion below

C

G7

C I've got the will, Lord, if You got the toe.

REFRAIN

Bring on the brothers, who've gone on before

And all of the sisters, who've knocked on your door

All the departed, dear, loved ones of mine

Stick 'em up front in the offensive line.

REFRAIN

A lowly bench warmer I'm contented to be

Until the time when you have need of me

The flash on the big score board signs from on high

The big Super Bowl way up in the sky

REFRAIN (2x)

TAG: Yea! [Start refrain and fade.....]

Ahhhh...

Does Forth Worth Ever Cross Your Mind... love that one too...

I didn't feel like reading everything that has been posted since lunch break minus this third page, but I am surprised that none of the posts I've seen have mentioned that 'Love Me' song by that one guy, forget his name... It was the 'if you get there before I do don't give up one me' song...

I dunno, always made the ladies cry...

Ewww, also like:

Dixie Land Delight - Alabama

And mad props to Tim McGraw for that 'Back Then' song... Not so much the words, but the beat/guitar on that song made me feel for one second, just one second, that this pop crap was over and that country had returned...

SintonFan...

I graduated with Lee Greenwood's daughter (shhh, it's a secret)

Also, The Dance is a great one, you can relate that song too so many more life stories than just death...

"You never even call me by my name"

Funny story with that one... We were at my cousin's wedding reception... Most of the younger ones were toasted, having a good time...

Anyway, there was this band there playing, and they played 'you never even call me by my name'...

Well, I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with the 'dance hall' version, but in betwee the two darlins in 'you don't have to call me darlin.... darlin', most people will yell out 'Bit$%, SLU$ WH@#$'...

A couple of the youngsters (Swear it wasn't me) yelled out the dance hall edition and whoa, talkin' bout some crazy looks...

Thanks LHPMOM, I almost forgot why I love you so much. Gary P's little brother Steve K Nunn lives 2 blocks over (Gary P Nunn is a graduate of Iowa Park High School) and I actually got engaged at a Jerry Jeff concert. It was July 4th, 2000. Jerry Jeff was the post game concert at a San Antonio AA baseball game. My best friend is a Professional umpire and he got us sweet tickets and field passes for the concert. Proposed while standing on home plate with the sky all lit up with fireworks and Jerry Jeff playing "Sangria Wine." Ahhhhhhhhhhh, memories!

"Amarillo by Morning"-danced to that through undergrad and graduate school in the '70's and '80's and still love it; and "I Hope You Dance"-gave a copy to each of my older boys the year it came out, my dearest wishes for them--though they are total opposites (one is shy and I hope he dares to try more things, one rushes in where angels fear to tread but I hope he keeps it up, with some maturity and judgement). Y'all have brought back some great titles, it's a wonderful genre.

Yah, 'Hurt' was origionally done by that Trent Reznor dude from Nine-Inch Nails...

But Johnny Cash did a great job on the song...

That has to be the saddest song I've ever heard... I'm sad for about an hour every time I listen to that song...
