The school song we picked was thrown out by the administration.
We voted for "IMAGINE" by the Beatles.

do you remember "Turn this motha out" was nominated..LOL

they wouldnt let us have "Youth Gone Wild" or "18 and Life" both by Skid Row

i remember the reason not to have "18 and life" was because it had the word "Tequila" in it:rolleyes: not sure why "youth gone wild" was rejected

I remember Will & Co. wanting "18 and life" and "Youth Gone Wild" both good songs, but I thought "18 & life" made it on the ballot?? I also remember some people wanting "The Wall" by Pink Floyd  I think every class tries to get that song and it is almost always rejected! :D "Take it to the Limit" by The Eagles was Class of 1991. Awesome!

Aledo Class of 1976 We had a gender split over the class song. Most of the boys wanted Lynard Skynard's "Freebird". But our lame girls wanted and were able to vote in the Carpenters' "We've Only Just Begun". YUCK!

"18 & Life". The song is about the story of "Ricky" who accidentally shoots and kills someone and gets life in prison at the age of 18. I loved that song by the way,the music that is. The story was too sad!! LOL!!

BTW,Hutto High School Class Song of 1986:

"That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne Warwick & Friends (Stevie Wonder,Elton John and Gladys Knight)

Class of 2001
'Freebird' - Lynyrd Skynyrd

I nominated it...

I remember a girl saying "We can't have that as our class song because they were alcoholics and druggies..."

Then I reminded her that she picked 'Make 'em Say Uhhhh' by Master P...

"Cheers" because no one brought the words to the other songs we had picked. So we were told we had to pick a song that had been used before. Just for the record I did not vote becuase i wasnt at the school that day. Couldnt have picked a lamer song in my opinion, but hey i wasnt there and i guess it could have been worse.

I don't remember us having an "official" class song, but I remember buying U2's "The Joshua Tree" CD when it came out a few months before graduation. I thought "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" summed everything up pretty well for me at that time.

"I will remember you" Sarah McLaughlin pretty damn lame if you ask me.

I'm gonna have to get in touch with some old school mates and see if THEY remember what ours was.

I don't remember, I've partied since then!:D

I had to read these all through, some sounded like contenders, but CheerMom and I have another thing in common (besides being moms who love high school football--the Deer Park Class of 1976 selected Theme from "Mahogany" as our class song. I remember "We've Only Just Begun" being one of the finalists. Makes us sound a tiny bit old, but we are certainly wiser!
