I was just curious of other opinions on spatting or taping of the shoes. I saw a Greenwood JV player get hurt and it took them a while to look at him with all of that tape on the outside of the shoe. Is it looks, support what is the purpose cause it this young mans case I think it was more trouble causing than anything. Your opinions?

Your opinions?I dont know about spitting on my shoes, but I like the tape on shoes. Alot of Forney's players wear yellow tape for home games (even though some people think there is a flag every play) and white for away or black for every game.

Spatting??? Is that what it is called??

I kinda wondered myself what the purpose was. Does the tape go entirely around the shoe?? If so, wouldn't that make you lose some traction??

its just like getting ur ankle wrapped but u wrap it on the outside of ur shoes and it still gives u the same support as the other way.

It goes all away the around but has holes in it for the cleats, some people might use these Shoe Cover (http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productdetail.cfm?TID=5555-01060321240101211114633-0&module=sideNav&action=keywordSearch&supercat=other&sku=010&model_nbr=35608)

So...is it a fashion statement or what???

I bet it is alot easier on the trainer's noses wrapping them up that way!!! :D :D :D

That is probably just for looks especially if you do not have a trainer on staff. If the ankle is already injured they would definetly tape the ankle itself first as it would give a ton more support. Then they may spat over the shoe as well for a little extra. If it just one player it might be legit, but if you see a team of it just looks cool. I don't do it with our players because it would cast me about $200 dollars a game and I don't think that is what that money is well spent. If you have a trainer their and their was only one kid and then they had to take it off and look at him then he was more than likely already hurting.

The way I rambled that probably doesn't make sense.

I just dont see the support or point of it, the kid seemed to be in alot of pain. wrap your ankle and get on with it. If you want to look cool, get in the end zone.

Go ask some one how much it cost for a case of tape ( colored or not) and then figure at one role per ankle for at least 50 ankles. That is at least 100 rolls of tape just for them to look pretty. And if you do one you can't leave someone else's baby out. It is very expensive.

I think Varsity was when we play on that turf so the black stuff doesnt get in the shoes, other than that I dont think the coaches think highly of it for the reason of getting hurt with it on.
