Forney lost to Mesquite Horn earlier in the season. The teams that beat them:

at Ennis L 0-48 (AT ENNIS)
at Highland Park L 28-42 (AT HP)
vs Wylie L 7-28
vs Richardson Pearce L 21-28

Not much to say about Ennis except for maybe they should play SMU.

They scored 28 on Highland park playing on the Scots field. I believe this was the week that one of their players died. I think Blake was his name....

Wylie has had a very respectable team the last couple years.

The Richardson pearce loss was probably deserved. Although they lost at least it was a close game.

Mesquite Horn Dpoll ranking: 23rd (all 4a)
Datapoll rankings for teams that beat them:
Ennis: 1st
Highland Park: 6th
Wylie: 9th
Pearce: 31st

3 of their 4 losses were to top ranked 4a teams. Plus having a teammate die during the season would have an effect on any team. They have a great team and that is why Mesquite Horn beat Forney in week 1.

Also note that Aledo is right there underneath Mesquite Horn and Forney beat them the week before losing to Horn. Albeit, rankings don't mean jack, it is something to go by.

The main reason for this post is to make sure everyone knows that Forney lost to a quality program. That game was not a fluke because Horn has a good team, and for any Forney non-believers out there.

What does this say about Forney's chances of going to the playoffs next year if they do move up to 4A because they may just end up in a similar district as the one Horn was in this year.

Horn will be 5A next year. They already have the numbers.
Forney was in this game before the turnovers.
If you want some good practice, schedule them in your preseason next year...after all, it will only be their 3rd varsity year.

Too bad even the all-mighty Burnet could not even accomplish that.

Too many good 4a teams around here....
Ennis, Corsicana, Waxahachie, Terrell, Mesquite Horn, Wylie....etc
