Yes the handoff was dropped on the first leg.The TEam's that were really really impressive in all the relay's were El Campo and Wharton them boy's are damn quick . All in all a great meet Cuero has excellent sprinters and excellent hurdlers in all the events in the 200m I believe we took 2nd and 4th 100m 1st and 4'th hurdles we were 1st and 2nd in the 300m hurdles which was another great race neck and neck between 2 Cuero boy's won at the wire by one of the kids who post's on here. The same 2 kids were also in the running in the 110 hurdles . What we dont have is distance runners which is the reason Yoakum won the meet they have kids that can run and run and run .

Also the transfer kid that had been posting 10.4 times in practice did not get to run in this meet . Not sure the reason for that .

also looks like Wharton girls have a pretty salty relay team...

Was the track wet over there? I was sure hoping no one would slip and injury themselves in those conditions. Also, nice to see Cuero getting a distance runner in the girls division. Kara Noack got 3rd in the 800

The exchange in the 400 relay was a problem last year. Maybe they'll get fixed by district.

Thanks for the info Gobbler84.

It did not start to rain until later in the afternoon when the finals were being held before that it was perfect not to hot not to cold .

As far as the girls they did look great yesterday the varsity relay teams look real good and so do the JV teams they (jv)blew everyone away . The girls are strong in the 400 , 200, relays and hurdles . The hurdles are the strongest event for the girls in the varsity div. 1'st and 2nd in the 300m hurdles and a strong showing in the 100m hurdles and 1st in the jv div. 300m hurdles won by a fresh.

It (100m) was won by Martell

Sound like all the teams are off to a great running start (excuse the pun lol). I hope to make the next track meet - provided baseball does not conflict. We were lucky in Wharton - It didnt' start raining on us until we were between El Campo and Wharton on the way home.

Martell Williams was very impressive Saturday with a 10.2 in pre-lims and a 10.4 in the finals to take the victory over Dane Grahman, who placed 2nd in the 100 at state last year, and Brodrick Mathis, who was part of the state sprint relay last year. Cuero Track is just going to get stronger and stronger as the track season goes on. They still have Justin Wessles who was at Texas A&M visiting this past Saturday. He Posted the fastest time in the 40 Thurday with a 4.47. Also there is Kyle Noack(4.5) who could possibly be better than Zack Gomez was last year in the 110 hurdles. Tre Gray, also a 4.5, has a torn groin but will be back soon. I look for Cuero to send someone to Regionals in every event this season.
