KERRVILLE, Texas -- Schreiner ended its NCAA-record losing streak at 83 games Saturday night, beating Sul Ross State 75-69.
Rachel Estrada led the Division III Mountaineers (1-24) with 18 points in their first victory since Jan. 17, 2002, when they beat Sul Ross 65-62.
"We just believed in ourselves, and we never gave up," senior Virginia Grijalba said.
Rockford (Ill.), which lost 70 straight women's games from 1995-98, holds the second-longest losing streak among women's teams. The men's record is held by Olivet, Mich. (1959-61), and Southwest Minnesota State (1971-73), both with 46 consecutive losses.
