Good BBQ - http://www.goodecompany.com/restresults.asp?restID=4

Downtown there are several new resturants downtown. One I have yet to make it to is the Downtown Aquarium.

No... But, they are in walking distance of each other on Kirby just off of 59 inside the 610 Loop.

In keeping with the Pappas family tradition, their hamburger joint, is one of the best around. It's on Westheimer, just down from the Galleria. If you want good Italian food, Macaroni Grill is just across the street. We eat at these two places frequently.

Not to mention... there is a play area outside & a 100 foot high ferris wheel on site too.

You can't miss it when you drive on I-45 North past downtown.

An absolute must for Valentines Day! PURE PURFECTION (http://www.houstoneats.com/Restaurant%20Reviews/Hot%20Favourites/Review-Fogo%20de%20chao.htm)
The atmosphere at the Aqaurium is great but the food isn't that awesome. My advice is to have drinks and appetizers there, and then move on.

How far are you willing to drive across town? I know of a real good steakhouse off of I-10 @ Beltway 8 on the west end of town. It's called Taste of Texas. You get to go back to the butcher and hand pick your steak if you want. Great food!!

Drive down to Galveston for the day and take in the seawall & shopping on The Strand. Lots of good seafood places to eat.

NASA is down in Clear Lake area as well as the Kemah Boardwalk is nice for shopping and eating. Just some more ideas.

we plan on driving all around. we're staying downtown, but im gonna try to find my grandfather's and uncles gravesite and i think the cemetary is northwest houston. i also want to go see San Jacinto again. Galveston sounds great cause my wife loves shops like that. as for NASA, id love it, but unfortunately it would bore my wife and son to death im sure.:D

I use to live in San Antonio so I'm partical to the zoo there (plus it has a train)... the Houston zoo is comparable to the SA zoo... the Houston zoo has more walk through exhibits and a very cool children's center... I liked the prairie dog exhibit (I have a picture of my daughter sticking her head through a praire dog hole [dome protected of course] with praire dogs standing around her)... Ft. Worth zoo is awesome... it reminds me a 'little' of Disney's Animal Kingdom (without all the cool rides of course)... it's more dense and gives a feeling of walking through the woods or forest... hope this helps...

Is Kapans still around, by the Astrodome complex. Great seafood, at least many years ago

There is also Rice Village that is pretty nice for shopping and stuff like that. I live in Houston so if you have an idea of what you want to do I could probably put you in the right direction.

Rice Village is awesome, might bore your son, but will make your wife happy. Goode Co is my son's favorite (one of them)as a Rice football player. He also likes Houston's on Kirby off 59 for ribs and Saltgrass for steak if Taste of Texas isn't close and they like Hungry's Bistro down by Rice Village for lunch. Don't forget the battleship at San Jacinto, your son will love it. Kapan's isn't still around in Galveston, I don't think. Benihana's downtown is a great lunch place for Japanese, entertaining for all and lunch is significantly cheaper than dinner, but be easier on your son, too. The Houston Zoo will not disappoint. Have a wonderful weekend!

Maybe you can help refresh my memory, which about Houston is very hazy. Down south, not far from Astroworld, on Post Oak I believe, there's a shopping center (I think just north of 610) that has a Chili's. In that shopping center there was, a couple of years ago, a Mexican food restaurant that started with a P. I honestly can't remember the name, but it seemed to be family owned & had excellent food.

Thank you - I've been trying for a couple of days to remember it so I could recommend to P44, but decided my brain's bandwidth has exceeded its current limit. ;)

Poblano's? You can go look at most of the dining in Houston at www.b4-u-eat.com just so you all know.
