These are the only 2 team titles. I know that 2003 Gainesville had the state powerlifting champ in I think 160lbs class. I think in the early 90's Gainesville had a girl win state in 1 track event.

In '02 Gainesville took us out (74-60) before going on to beat Kountze (79-62) for the title.:)

I didn't go in '02 but did go in '03 when Everman beat us. They then went on to play Hempstead, I believe...and for the life of me, I can't remember who won the title in '03. For some reason, I am thinking Everman, but could be wrong.

It is awesome watching those games in the Drum! :)

Gainesville does have a lot of which to be proud. I'll just be glad when we can put our first "state" football title on Bridgeport's water tower. Bet on the Bulls.....

we used to have this billboard that was kept up with... but with regional titles and state titles... i think they ran out of space...

Gainesville Leopards football teams reached the final game in 1974,1976 and in 1978. 25 years later they won thier first ever state championship against Burnet in 2003.

I might be wrong but i think Robert Franklin won state in the 200 or the 100 in track in 2002, and maybe the long jump too..

also if you go out to NCTC they have one of those banners up for the Baseball National championship

As a Gainesvlle alum, that sign makes me mad! They need to totally revamp, repaint, and redo the water towers in town and make that stuff REALLY VISIBLE.

I wish everyone in town would write a letter to the GDR telling them how disappointed they are in that "recognition".

And I was on the State Finalist basketball team from 2000--the one that lost to Waco La Vega in the finals--and we deserve some recognition too. As well as the other state semi-finalist basketball teams and the State Runner Up track team from 2002.

I agree the sign is kinda disappointing, but you are talkin about a town that would rather build a jail than a school.. Our college was NATIONAL champs at baseball, but got a sign smaller than that one..

I wish we could have a sign coming into town with all of the accomplishments, kinda Celina style
