is it even a sport if a nine year old can compete at a professional level. What other sports can that happen? checkers?

maybe, but there is a difference in being fundamentally sound and competing as a professional. i dont know many 9 year olds that can drive 300 yds.

True, but this is a nine year old KID, and I stress kid. Soccer has just a little more contact than golf. Im glad he is good, but there is NO way he can compete with grown adults at this stage. This really makes no sense to me. Crazy Englishmen.

If you read the story, he's being scouted. Tyson Chandler's been scouted since he was in seventh grade, was on the Jay Leno Show at age 14, but didn't play professionally until he was 18 and didn't see significant time until much later.

Quite possibly female athletes develop proficient golf skills at a much younger age than their male counterparts, therefore their skills are that of a grown woman. :p

Don't worry, I wasn't ragging on golf.....just couldn't resist a prime opportunity to have some fun with Jason. ;)

I've played a grand total of maybe 5 times & it's been 10 years since the last time. Everyone's better than I am. :)
