Corey update: We have now raised enough funds to keep Corey's mother on base for two weeks. He then will be transferred to a spinal rehabilitation clinic, location unknown at this time. Please keep all these young men in your prayers. God Bless

Thank you for the update Bulldog. Our prayers are with Corey and his family and all the Everman friends. I will be sending a donation in the mail. Hopefully things will work out over time because they have made much progress in treatments the past several years and we will be praying that things work out good for Corey and his family.

Went to the High School here in Burnet yesterday and made a donation for Corey. MANY people were there doing the same thing- I saw an envelope from the Sheriff's Dept. loaded with funds as well that was being dropped off.

Please tell everyone you know about this and see if we can't all make a big difference for this boy and his mother.

Coach Shipley has also organized a big raffle to take place beginning Jan 2., all proceeds will go to Corey's fund.

There has also been talk of a benefit dinner and dance, though I am not sure about it yet.

Our prayers are with Corey and his family. Even though I live amd work in Austin 9\(my home will always be Burnet), my company is going to make a donation to the Burnet High school fund for Corey. God bless that young man and his family.

Moving to the top. I would just like to say a special thank you to all the fans of the 3ADownlow for your prayers and support. There is not enough room to thank every individual, but to see fierce competetors on the football field come together in such a tragic circumstance is wonderful. You know Texans, and Americans come together when the chips are down. You have all earned my respect, and I never will look at Everman vs Forney, or Sinton, or Burnet quite the same again. God Bless you all.

Helping to keep this at the top.
bulldog65, JMEN 84, Everman and Corey and family,
I would like to send this personal message to all of you. As Corey lay on the field Saturday my heart just plummeted to the pit of my stomach.
It brought back memories from just two years ago when a close loved one of mine was involved in a motorcycle accident that has left him a paraplegic. When I told him of Corey he immediately teared up and said that his thoughts are with him.

Corey is in for a long haul, not to be a downer just realistic. Everyone is on the right track. Just to hear and know that he has so many people behind him will be inspirational in itself. I know Corey and his mom will be receiving all kinds of professional wisdom and help, but if they ever need to speak to someone who has been there and is still there please have them contact us. We would only be to happy to share our experiences, both good and bad, with them.
Corey, you are strong both physically and spiritually. Keep your faith and all is possible!! God Bless

I know what you mean from you comment above Bulldog. We have to remember sometimes that these are kids doing their best and so are the officials even though they may make mistakes I feel that most of them make their calls in good faith and judgement. The schools and teams are not enemies but friendly rivals and we must remember that. I remember in 2001 how both teams from Mathis and Sinton before the game stood in unity for the country and the victims of September 11, 2001. Great comment you made Bulldog. Also I rambled a lot in two posts and I want to put this one ahead of them again since this is probably the most important post of the year.

Tommorow evening, Thursday Dec. 19th there is a planned prayer vigil on the square in Burnet. Many of our local ministers will lead our community in prayer for Corey. It is being described as "One Town, One Thousand Prayers". I cannot convey to posters and readers outside of our Hill Country area, just how this community has been affected by the events of last Saturday. The out-pouring of sorrow is area wide. All of our churches in Burnet, Buchanan Dam, Kingsland, Llano, Granite Shoals, Marble Falls, and more continue to keep Corey in our prayers.
As much hype as there was before last Saturdays, it has only been equalled by the concern for Corey. Everyone here seems to know Corey by his first name, maybe that is because he is continually talked about here on the radio, in the newspapers, on our local NBC affiliate in Llano, and on the TV stations in Austin. God bless Corey and his family, the Hill Country is here for you.

I know I sound like a broken record, but the people on this board are awesome! Sinton people, I never had a doubt you would come thru, that's just the kind of people you are! I wasn't too impressed with some of what I read from both Burnet and Jasper before their game, but I realize it was mainly in the spirit of competition. You have shown everyone on this board that you can be counted on in the darkest of times. You are all tops in my book! Thank you.

top-just wanted to say. I saw the story that High School Xtra had on Corey & the players from Everman this weekend. It was heartbreaking. I also saw what the Burnet community is all about with their prayer vigil & raising eek! $10,000 for Corey & his family!!! WOW you guys are really awesome! The outpouring of support for this young man from all over the state is truly what sportsmanship is all about. Kudos to all!!

Latest news: A local Attorney has volunteered his services to establish a trust fund for Corey with the generous donations so many people have made. It is not official yet so I will not name him, but this is indicative of the kind of support we have. We sent a check to Corey's mother in San Antonio yesterday and hopefully they will be able to celebrate Christmas as his family gathers around him. Corey's grandmother said the family was overwhelmed by the numerous cards and letters from well wishers. They are basically stunned, as anyone would be under these circumstances, not only from the tragic injury, but also the tremendous support and acts of kindness from all over the state. I thank you on their behalf. No new news on his condition other than the doctors want his spine to stabilize before he can be transferred to a spinal rehab clinic. Please keep this family in your prayers, God Bless and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

And thanks to all the posters who help keep this on top.

Dec 26..Burnet Bulletin. Over $20,000 has been raised for Corey in the Burnet area as reported by two local banks. This is prior to the huge raffle that is being planned in mid January by the locals. Have been told by reliable source that over $6000 in goods and services have been donated for the raffle.

Two days after the Burnet/Everman game I was back at work (I manage a conveniance store) and I put a cannister on the counter to collect change for the Corey Fulbright Fund. I think I reported somewhere here on 3ADownlow that it did really well that first day, so the next day I went to Dollar General and bought 2 dozen more jars, printed a notice for each jar, and placed them in communities outside of the city of Burnet. I put the jars in Llano, Buchanan Dam, Kingsland, and Granite Shoals. The plan was to give some of the neighboring communities an opportunity to contribute, many were at the game, all were touched by the plight of Corey and his mom. I would like to thank the retailers and resturanteurs that were all so receptive to the donation jars and especially my neighbors in these close by towns. My wife and I picked up, sorted, counted, and deposited into the Corey Fulbright Fund(in Burnet)$2,948.45, it was so close that we wrote a check and made it an even $3,000.00. Thanks to the Hill Country! God bless you Corey and Ms. Fulbright.
