We were able to talk to my cousin this morning. He is in Ramstein and will more than likely leave there Saturday and fly into Fort Hood!

He has 3 badly smashed disks in his back that will require an operation and at least a year of therapy.

He said he is up and walking right now, with a great amount of pain and some "really good pain meds"!!

He will never go back to Iraq, I personally don't see him being able to do much of anything for a while. He is a master mechanic by trade, but I don't know how much of that he will be able to do anymore either.

Anyway, thanks for yalls continued prayers.....it's not the best news we could have gotten, but it's a whole lot better than the alternative!!

The fact that he's walking is highly encouraging. I hope he keeps on improving and doesn't need those meds for long. :)

Hey Mom, great news! Let me know if you need help in Fort Hood. My mom lives in Killeen and might be able to give somebody a place to stay or show you/them around town. Let me know.

Looks like I may be taking a road trip to Killeen next weekend to visit him.

Another thing that was nice was that my ex-sister in law lives in Germany. So even though she is no longer part of the family, she and my 2 nieces and nephew were there at the hospital when he got there.

He said it was so nice to see a familiar face, even though the family doesn't much care for her anymore, (I always liked her) she was there with her children and it made John feel like he had at least a little bit of the family there with him!

Ranger Mom

Thank the lord he's coming home.

Also tell him, a master mechanic who may only point right now
is hell of lot better than setex under the hood.
