We spent three months looking for a home. We now have great house we live in. Make sure you have at least 8 grand in the bank if you going conventential. 5 grand if your going FHA.
And make sure you have a real estate person who tries to understand your needs, wants and what your willing to pay.

You can always bid close to full price and GO DOWN(in allowances and stuff) from there. Thats what we learned.

Be sure everything is done before you move in. This is good whether you buy or rent. I had a friend that moved into a rent house that didn't have a gas line but the landlord was supposed to put it in next week. Guess what - the line never got put in. Also if windows need to be repaired be sure they replace it before you move in. That was all that was wrong with mine and they were going to fix it but of course I wound up paying for it myself.
