View Full Version : Annika Sorenstam wins 2004 Associated Press Female Athlete of Year!

She is a great golfer and own it for the second straight year. Diana Taurasi, the great female basketball player was second. This is one time I think they got it backwards though even though Annika is a great athlete. It is just that Diana was the reason Connecticut repeated as NCAA National Champions again. Then in Phoenic she won rookie of the year and was the reason this last place team showed much improvement. Then she was also on the winning women's basketball team in the olymphics which won the gold.

Amy Acuff, the great high jumper. was voted female athlete of the year for the Corpus Christi area. She got fourth place in the high jump at the olympics. She would have got the bronze but made a bad judgement error when she refused to jump at a lower height and went for the higher height which she missed. Had she jumped at the lower height and made it she would have had the bronze. Of course looking back is more accurate but what a waste of a lost opportunity.
