Snyder was not even asked to nominate anyone By the Substandard times. It just shows how valid or invalid rather that it is. You have an all west texas team with nobody from the state champions or state semifinalist on it and they both are within 100 miles of the paper doing it? Maybe there is some stroking of some subscribers going on here with this one;) guess they decided to make up for some lack of recognition with this team.
FYI Snyder Had 6 people mentioned in the AP all state poll counting 1st , 2nd , and honorable mentions. Wylie is also represented in the all state selections but no mention of them in this one? Good job Substandard Times:thumbsup:

The All west Texas team put out by Texasprepxtra didn't leave out Snyder or Wylie. Both teams are well represented although Wylie's coaches didn't turn in any nominations.

San Angelo...they usually don't include Abilene area teams. Probably due to some kind of rivalry with the Abilen Reporter News. The ARN has its own "all area" team. I don't know why they didn't include Snyder. I think that Sweetwater is usually included. Personally, I think that they should have included Snyder....but I guess that they feel like they have to draw the line somewhere...it just leaves out El Paso, the Panhandle, Abilene and schools like Snyder that are a few miles past their imaginary cutoff line.:(

if its all-area team and a San Angelo based paper then i dont see a problem with Abilene or Synder kids not on their team ... after all, it IS their team. usually a paper will include on teams thay cover.

now if they claim it to be all West Texas then thats a different matter .....

The San angelo paper never includes teams in abilene or that area known as the Big Country. It never has. And the texasprepextra included them even without nominations so don't diss the kids on the list give congrats where they are due.

nobody is disin anyone. Im just saying it kinda makes the " All West Texas Team " a joke when you dont include kids from the two most succesful teams in west texas and who had more AP all state selections than anyone. Hey, Wylie and Snyder are 90 miles from San Angelo. How far is Ft Stocton from San Angelo? Im just saying it invalidates the title of " All West Texas Team" Maybe they should have called it the all Concho valley team.

I agree with you Black Magic...the "all west texas" team doesn't include all of west texas. However, in the standard times defense...they have remained consistent through the years in excluding certain areas of west texas. It would be a little disingenuous of the standard times to begin including certain teams just because they had success that particular year and then leave them out the other years.

well most people don't view abiliene as "west" texas there more like Big Country central texas. nobody is taking away what the 2 most successful teams in the big country did, they were great. but west texas is usaully thought of as san angelo to big spring to el paso and everywhere inbetween these towns. San Angelo is 90 miles away from you and they are not included in the all-central texas team? It's the papers doing this not some guy looking to piss some abiliene people off!

Great Job wylie and snyder- the 2 most successful schools in "WEST TEXAS"!

Was 2nd in district in rushing and passing.
Lost rushing title to all-state running back but had 4 less carries and played 1 less game.
Was Co-MVP of district 3-3A

Well west Texas actually starts west of Ft Worth. thats basic Texas Geography. Lets just see. Avalanch journal has the all south plains team, Abilene reporter has the All big country team, Odessa has the Permian Basin team, And San Angelo has the ALL west Texas Team??. Maybe they all should get togeather and nominate and vote ( Abilene, Odessa, San Angelo, Lubbock, El Paso, Amarillo) and do a legitimate all West Texas team. But we all know that if that happened this " all west Texas team" may have a few changes counting people from Canyon, Perriton, Wylie, Lubbock Cooper, Snyder, Vernon ect... dont you think? If all of those west texas teams were included it would be a true representation of west texas. they realy should just call it the all concho valley team or something.

Back in the mid-eighties the ST had both an All concho valley and an all west texas. I think that it only lasted a few years though.

I figure Snyder will dominate the 3A team for the Lubbock Avalanche Journal and Wylie will dominate the Reporter News team from Abilene.

Are you angry that you didnt get your 6 all staters on that team???

Well either way that you look at it--- if the kid is good enough, he should get recognition wherever he is from and no matter what paper puts them in their all whatever team. If he is good enough he does not need papers to let people know, his playing should do the most talking.

but still, congrats to all who made any team, i am sure they are all deserving!

Its just that San Angelo Standard Times has a team like the others and calls it the All West Texas Team and does not include over half the teams in west texas in the posible awards. I was told about why San Angelo refuses to ask or alow Snyder team stats or individual stats from the season in thier paper. It was because they dont sell enough papers in the Snyder area... This was told to Snyder coaches by the sports info guy from the Standard times. what kind of reason is that if you want to do a good job showing information of area teams? Snyder is 90 miles away. Heck why dont they just call it the all state team. its even more impressive sounding and not too much more incredulous. Snyder was represented in the All South plains team and was well represented in the All Big Country team in Abilene. All Im saying is that if you create an "All West Texas Team" then include all of west Texas. Include Abilene, Lubbock,Permian basin, El Paso,San Angelo,Witchita Falls, and Amarillo areas as well. otherwise just call it what it really is, All Concho Valley team.... but that would not sound as good then wood it.:p
