At our house we're going to mix in a little Cajun food this year---chicken, okra, and sausage gumbo and shrimp creole. Of course, there will be turkey and ham with all the goodies also, including pecan pie, all manner of cookies, crab and spinach dips, cheeses, and a Turtle Cheescake from Sam's, a little eggnog with some Wild Turkey mixed in, and a case of Heineken and Corona to finish it off. We'll open a few gifts Christmas Eve, and have the whole family over on Christmas Day to exchange gifts, eat, and have a lot of love together--remembering the reason we celebrate Christmas--the Birth of Jesus Christ, Emmanuel. What do you do for Christmas?

Same as most every year...New years eve service, open presents with grandparents, parents and an aunt. Then Chrsitmas day 'dinner' at like 3-ham sandwiches, fixins, cookies, holly, haystacks, buckeyeballs, trash mix, summer sausage, lil smokies and many other foods. The eating continues through new years (yikes) and then it's off to mania marathon. Woo Hoo!

We will begin on Christmas Eve at my in-laws early in the afternoon. After that, it will be on to my sister's house that evening. Christmas Day will start with opening presents and me cooking a huge lunch/dinner (Turkey, ham, dressing, german potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, corn casserole, christmas cookies, divinity, fudge and of course homemade eggnog). It will be an all day eating fest!! And of course, enjoying family and reflecting upon the true meaning of Christmas.

Don't they have some really strange ingredient? Chow mein noodles or something crazy like that?

There are just certain things that don't sound like they go together that I have a hard time eating.........like bread pudding. Whoever thought of putting bread in pudding....yikes....uck.....gross. :D

Gumbo seems especially good in cold weather. So, this Christmas should be a good time for gumbo. I think that's what we're cooking too.

Gumbo, creole, turkey and ham? If you're having all that food for Christmas... ya'll better start cooking now! That's a LOT of food! How many are you cooking for???

We're spending our Christmas "alone" this year. Just me, my wife, and our two kids.

yea i wish man, but its not worth the trouble of having it out here. were not allowed to have a few suds, in our off time, even though the locals drink like fish, it appearently offends them. i think its just another way for "the man" to come down on us...
