while unbelievable, was not nearly as impressive as the effort, character, desire, committment, unity and unwillingness to surrender that both teams displayed.

I know that Jasper and Gilmer don't have a monopoly on the qualities that I mentioned, but it's encouraging to see kids receiving an education in life's lessons. TAKS scores are not the only measure of the learning that's going on in our schools. These players exemplified all that is GREAT about Texas High School Athletic Programs.
That's my final downlow thought for 2004.
