from channel 6 news website(NBC affiliate)

Aransas Pass football coach Robert Soza has been reassigned. Soza will stay on as the athletic director, but he's no longer the football coach.

Soza told 6Sports he was completely caught off guard by the school board's decision. He maintains he ran a clean program. Soza went 3-7 during his first year at the helm, and 7-3 this past season, but went went just 1-4 in district, and failed to make the playoffs. Soza has a year and a half on his contract. The school board meets again in February to further discuss his status.

Okay, I wasn't going to say anything. Think he is probably the only one caught off guard. Some of us have seen the writing on the wall for awhile.

Here's an afterthought......

Coach Soza is a VERY nice man, but IMO his biggest downfall was his inability to strengthen the program. All of you in 30-3a know that a roster of 21 (with two on those on the injured list) doesn't say much for the overall program. It was a tough, tough season for everyone involved .... least of which, the players.:(

it reminds me of what happened to Coach Patz in Sinton my junior year after just 1 lousy season. Only Coach Patz was relegated to some pencil pushing job. Coach davenport was hired my senior year.

Same Davenport that eventually came to AP and then on to Port Lavaca?

He is a great coach. Seems like it is harder to keep good coaches than to find them. Or maybe I should re-phrase....once they have had the opportunity to prove their talent, they are already being pursued by other districts. Just an observation....

by the way, i found this website. it is a school district where Steve Patz (former Sinton Head coach) is superintendant at. can anyone notice the mistake in his Education HIstory? i thought it was pretty funny myself.

in his list of education he says he attended the University of Texas at Kingsville. ANd to be perfectly honest, it wouldnt suprise me if he made up a bunch of stuff on his resume. he was a terrible coach and we nver had much respect for him
