Diboll's basketball team is 8-3. They beat JT @ JT 57-54 Tuesday night. They got a bit of a scare in the Zavalla final Saturday night. They ended up pulling away from Broaddus (Class A-I #1) by about six, but it was a struggle. Broaddus shot well for the most part and Diboll took them lightly I think.

Finley's really dominating. I see him play a lot, so this may be a little biased, but he has to be the best 3A player in the state. Keep in mind my knowledge of other 3A players isn't what it once was. He's going for about 34 ppg and over 20 boards. Against Nac he really showed me something - 35 pts, and a couple monster slams.

I'd be REALLY surprised if they don't make regionals in Huntsville and I think their early schedule plus a year extra of experience make them a solid pick to go to the drum.

They are currently at 8-3 on the season. Losing to Tyler Lee, Nac, and Montgomery.

They will be playing Kountze at Angelina College Tuesday night. Kountze is ranked number 1 in 2a, depending on which poll u use, and Diboll #2.

Finley is averaging a little over 30 points a game and about 22 rebounds as well.

Against Nac, he went up against a Preseason All-American, Damien James who is 6'8. It was a great matchup. Diboll lost though 60-62. James scored 24 points that night.

That nac game was triple FUN. Some of Nac's gameplanning was questionable, but it took a buzzer beater to beat Diboll.

Can't wait for the Kountze matchup. Shands (in Lufkin) seats 1800 I think. I'd be really surprised if it wasn't butt to gut in there.

I wanted to see a matchup against Kountze last year at regionals but it never happened. It will be a thrill to see Hall match up with Finley.

andy, do you know anything about a new point guard playing tuesday? I heard his name is Tramaine Johnson i think.

6'1 sf....he's been practicing with the team, but becomes eligible vs. Kountze...don't know how much pt he'll get...word is he could eventually start, but that's not for sure.....supposedly he gives them more depth on the perimeter, which never hurts...
