Wow! Two 30-3A teams in the top ten?
Goliad was doing well too and Sinton has showed some life this year. It's gonna be a fun year this year(I hope) for 30-3A!  :)
.
Hasn't someone from 30-3A made it to the semis or regionals for the last few years(I thought someone mentioned this earlier)?

i'm hoping pretty well...we have some good players...LOTS of talent is on this team...i think they have better players OVERALL on this team compared to last years who made a trip to the regional tournament and got beat by a really good greenwood team...we haven't exactly got off to the best of starts but we just got some players from football who should help deepen the bench...i think the biggest flaw on the team is the lack of a DOMINANT big man...this team should be revolved around the guards this year...they have speed and can shoot from anywhere on the court...if the team can pull together after a semi-shaky start i would not be surprised to see us in austin...

Aransas Pass went to State Semi-Finals in 2002 and 2003.

In '02, we lost to Gainsville 74-60 and in '03 we lost to Everman (not sure of the score).

Still, quite an honor to make it to the final four. Watching those games in the UT Frank Erwin Center is amazing in itself.

Here's some more info on Aransas Pass in the Salado tournament last weekend.

Salado Tournament - AP Boys Results 12/10

Aransas Pass 21 4 20 14 7 5 71
Brock 18 10 21 10 7 9 75

If it weren't for overtime losses, The Aransas Pass Panthers would have no losses at all. For the third time this season, the AP boys were defeated in OT, this time it took two of them. The two time State Champion Brock Eagles (11-0) defeated Aransas Pass(10-3) 75-71 in a wild double overtime victory.

Aransas Pass: Daniel Hayes 11, Michael Cook 15, John Walton 3, Marcus Hernandez 17, George Alvarado 4, Matt Hall 6, Eric Mingus 11, Cody Hall 4.
Brock: Deavers 24, Bell 23, Nolen 11, Hatcher 7, Blanton 10
3pters: Hayes 1, Cook 2, Walton 1, Hernandez 2, Blanton 2, Hatcher 1, Deavers 2, Nolen 1.

AP will take on Salado at 4:30 for third place on Saturday.

Salado Tournament - AP Boys Results 12/9

The #10 ranked Aransas Pass Panthers defeated the #12 ranked Liberty Hill Panthers here in the first round of the Coach Smith Invitational Tournament at Salado High School.
After a slow start and an 11-2 Liberty Hill run to open the game, the Panthers outscored Liberty Hill 8-5 to close out the first period down 10-16. Then the teams played even at 8-8 the second period with the score AP 18, LH 24 at halftime. The third period was a different story altogether. The 10-2 AP Panthers outplayed the LH Panthers 20-8 to take a 38-36 lead going into the deciding period. With the lead and 3 minutes remaining, the panthers hit 4 out of 5 clutch free throws to lead by 4. Liberty Hill guard and leading scorer Nathan Davis banked in a 3 pointer at the buzzer, but it was not enough, as Aransas Pass avenged a 3 pt loss to Liberty Hill in last year's Salado Tournament.
AP-Eric Mingus 6, Matt Hall 12, Marcus Hernandez 13, John Walton 10, Michael Cook 5, Daniel Hayes 2. LH-Davis 20

The Panthers will take on #20 AA Brock in the semifinals Friday at 4:30pm.

Hey LALK is Merkel worth the 5th rank in the coaches poll. It is going to be pretty hard to get through them. What about the rest of the district

Merkel is good...haven't seen them play yet...they beat jim ned (a local 2A school) but just a couple of points...even though jim neds a top 10 2A team, a top 10 3A team IMO should be able to pound on them...should be a good district for roundball this year...really looking forward to the wylie vs. merkel matchup

as for tonight...i saw graham play...they beat us by 9 i think...they played lights out...ALL of their players can shoot from ANYWHERE #32 is a player to look out for...i think we're just as good as them but they got the best of us tonight...was a good game but graham kept control the whole game...the Wylie team looked like a team that had just gotten new players in...little mistakes and the team seemed to not play as a whole together...i'm ready to see the result of the rematch in january in graham

I also watched the Graham vs Wylie game but never with the same intensity as LALK. Graham shot lights out. I would like to see them again see if everything falls like it did friday night. They are good. They can score insideor out you just decide how you want them to beat you.

I watched Merkel play Iowa Park a couple of weeks ago. Im not convnced how good the Badgers are. They have a couple of good athletes on the team but they didnt appear to be that great of a shooting team. I think the Sweetwater, Merkel, Wylie, Clyde and Snyder district will be a war.

Also the Wylie girls are the real deal. Look forward to following them to Austin!

I am curious as to why nobody is giving the Vernon basketball team any love. They came from one win (loss on a last second shot) to making it to the Region I tournament in Lubbock last year, and return about 3 starters. They are playing good this year, but no respect. Give Vernon a look... as they could be playing deep in the playoffs come 2005.

The way i see the vernon thing is this... they had a ton of talent and i man a TON of talent coming back for football too and they just shut it down. Something happened there this fall and no one but the kids and the coaching staff know what that is.
