Personally, I love the Brush Country Inn down in Riviera, TX. They have this one CFS called the Brush Country Saddle Blanket that stretches out at close to a foot and a half long. $11. Damn, that's a great place to eat.

Also, the Floyd's Ranch House in Ingleside has good ones. (Don't be fooled by the knock off over in Flour Bluff... it's nowhere near as good) The one in Ingleside was awarded best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas by the Houston Chronicle back in 1986, but the Brush Country Inn has it beat.

Those cinnamon rolls at Lulu's are out of this world. We used to stop by just to get some to go.
For CFS, I like the LoneStar Cafe on the Riverwalk.

Best I know of is at the 4H Steakhouse in Elgin. It's the same size as the jailhouse, but in one piece and with sides and salad to boot.

Earl Abels in San Antonio makes a good one. It's not huge like the Jailhouse one though.
.
In South Texas, the Red Barn had great chicken fried steaks. Too bad the place burned down.:(

Massey's here in Fort Worth is really good. They give you two nice sized pieces and lots of homemade gravy. I think Massey's has been around longer then me and that's along time. lol

In Sanger Tx., there is a resturant called Babes that has some of the largest, most tender C.F steaks that I have ever tried! $8.99. Sanger is located between Denton and Gainesville on I-35.

Next time you go, stick your head in the kitchen and say hi to Buddy for me. "course he won't know me by my screen name.

All of the cfs' around the northwest houston area are huge and good. Goodson's cafe in Tomball and Hickory Hollow in Magnolia both serve theirs on a pizza platter out of necessity. The gravy is better at Goodson's. Doesn't matter to me, I order mine dry and eat it with ketchup anyway.

If you can cut it with a plastic fork it's good. Texas has too many good CFS's to make one the best.
