lol i think this one has been covered before...Now if you want to spice up the question, say who has the better running back with the teams left? Which is only 2 Gilmer and Jasper...

Dee Walker, Snyder Tigers

The kid #42 from Cuero was a stud.

#42 from cuero was one of the best i have seen, during the state game, we have a picture, it took 6 of the AW guys to take him down, he just doesnt stop moving his feet and when you run a 4.3 or 4.4 forty, it also helps, so my vote goes to Larvell Roy

Call me a homer, but I still think Chris Smith could be the starting back on any team, any classification. He got over 5000 career rushing yards and like 50 touchdowns against three years of eight-man defensive fronts. To rush for 1600 yards as a sophomore was amazing enough itself. I think he is hands down the "most important to his team" running back though if not the best in AAA.

don't know about yardage, but #12 from LH is the best of their bunch and should make some mention in the all-state teams.

tank smith for marlin will get some mention as well. Those are the two I have seen this year that will get some votes.

Jasper has 3 or 4 good running backs. They don't feature just one, so their stats probably don't compare favorably to a host of backs throughout the state. If #2 hadn't been hurt for so long he might have some rather gaudy numbers. He rushed for well around 1700 last year as a qb.

I may be off a few yards, but I've got him at 2368 for the year & over 11.5 yds/carry.

Demario Thomas of Longview Spring Hill 2,300 yds.. Brother of the nations leading rusher Jamario Thomas of North Texas.. no doubt. Gilmer was the only team to keep him under 150 yds. 28 carries 97 yds.

Snyders Dee Walker is one of the best if not the best. Dee had 2,355 yards ( 140 yards vs Gilmer ) all while playing in the toughest 3A district in the state. Snyder had the 15th toughest strength of schedule in the state of all 3A schools so he has earned the yardage vs verry tough competition.

I have to agree. Charles is an excellant running back and a tremendous person. You couldn't meet a better human being.

Well if peole r going to say Dee walker as a candidate than Greenwoods Jerrel Brooks is one too he is just as good or better than dee walker, and plus Brooks plays every down of the game both ways.

dee walker was good but i'd probably give it to cueros running back...even tho he probably had the best o-line in the state which doesn't hurt...he was a hoss...

i think a lot of people look pass wylie running back michael kiger...who is an ALL-PURPOSE back...i really don't think there's a better athlete at the RB position than him...and wylie has played some good teams...and i've had a few chances to see good backs...i believe he should atleast get honorable mention

and a few other all-state players from wylie: tyler crump and jared robertson...and i'd probably put levi wolfe on there too..

i'm really biast but i do believe all these players deserve to be mentioned

im gonna vote for collin jones of bridgeport. they had an extremely tough schedule, and were w/ atleast 3 points of winning i believe on 7 different occasions. that kid can flat out play. hes also a junior so he'll be back next year.

I think that micheal kiger kid is really good i got to see him play twice this year. Hes just as good as any running back in region 1.

now i know Sweetwater doesnt have a single OUTSTANDING running back...thats cuz there are several, Kendall Carrillo is awesome, he'll be back next year

but the running mustangs that will make a huge impact the next 2 years are sophmores Joseph Banyard and Skye Greene.....very fast and both are stout, but Banyard is a Manchild, he is not afraid to hit ppl and he has really good size for any runningback.....u might wanna start asking for autographs now instead of 6 years down the road:D

gotta say Chris Smith. finished the regular season over the 1800 mark and has soph-senior career average of 5000 yards. But Im sayin that hes the best not because of the yardage, but the kind of teamate and guy he is. Weather he was all-state or not, hes the 20-3a Offensive MVP, broke the school career record, and is easily one of the best guys I know.

You can't beat Ryan Lawhorn, Casey Kocuiba, Matt Escamilla form Liberty Hill. Best around.

I have to agree with you there BM, that Dee Walker is tough. Its hard to argue with someone who has that many yards in his district. There is no telling how good he could have been if he had come in one or two years earlier.

gotta consider that the qb, scott martin, that started with chris smith all three years rushed for 2000, passed for 2300, and in the process accumulated over 70 touchdowns. as valuable as chris was, he was not our only weapon on offense. if you keyed on him, scott would burn you. had we not had scott as a qb, chris might have 100 touchdowns in his career.

I have to agree with Cheermom and Balboa, to use a Bum Phillips phrase, If Charles Huffman is not in a class by himself, then it does not take long to call the roll. Charles is a fine young man and a great runningback.  :flamingma
