This is not a knock on Snyder. I saw Gilmer last week, and they were like they from another planet. But the game is not over yet. Jasper had a large lead on LH this afternoon and then had to hold on at the end for the victory. Jasper probably needed only one second half TD to put LH away, and could never quite get it.

Gilmer is impressive. I'm not pronouncing Snyder "dead" yet---their kids have not given up, and their offense is moving the ball on Gilmer. A couple of quick scores and a defensive stop or two coupled with some breaks and Snyder could be back in it. However, if Gilmer comes out and continues to score quickly---stick Snyder with a fork---they're done.

I am enjoying this 3A game...I find it interesting in that Snyder committed 4 turnovers and still has scored 20 points! I would guess that Jasper will win over either of these teams, based on the great teams the Bulldogs have honed their skills on this season. We will just have to wait and see the outcome.

I saw somewhere here that if Gilmer wins, the game will be at SFA in Nacogdoches. If Snyder pulls it out, the game will be at Texas Stadium. That is supposedly the preliminary agreement, subject to change.

Gilmer is that good. You must not have gone up early last week to watch them whip Tatum. I think Jasper has a chance to play with them if Jasper plays a perfect game, but it is going to be a challenge for sure.

I just heard one of the Gilmer announcers say that Jasper would have size and speed on Gilmer. I tend to agree maybe about the speed, but I tell you Gilmer is pretty darn big. They looked like giants to me. They surely know how to throw and complete passes. I am looking forward to see how this plays out next week! :) I wouldn't miss it for the world!

Well Gilmer won this game with ease and they deserved it, like i said this years region 1 was weak div 2 , Congrats to wylie!!! I have watched snyder since week 4 and they didnt impress me they win by little, and region 1 was weak this year and it showed. Yeah snyder beat wylie but wylie has a better team .!! it doesnt mkae since but i guess u have to be there. Wylie is a good team they beat us by 27 (midland greenwood) and snyder almost went home the first round, thanks too us with a 5-5 record so that shows the sthrenght of region 1 div 2.!!! WEAK!!!

Just got back from the game. If it could go wrong for Snyder it did. Add that to the Gilmer offense that the Tigers had no answer for and you got an ugly one. I left early in the 4th.

Problems that I saw with Snyder other than the fumbles and bad passing: They were moving the ball on the ground. They didn't stay with it as they got behind and started passing which led to interceptions. Gilmers defense looked like the DB's were the strong suit. #86 made some great catches for Snyder, but lacked the speed that Gilmer's receivers had. The Snyder line was taking it to the Gilmer D-line, except #33 or 30 I can't remember his #. He was good. Of course as fast as he was rushing in he could have been trapped.

Gilmer's play calling was great. screens, short passing mix in a long on here and there, throw in some designed draws and they have a very talented team. Snyder could not stop them. Cameron was right about the talent. Reminded me of Atlanta last year. Every player looked the part.

Great game for Gilmer.

here's my take on the game (we left w/ 8 min left).

snyder (nice uni's!) was good but they were just out of their league. they moved the ball well on the ground in the first half but their passinggame was not real good, at least last night. and what can you say about gilmer? awsome. if not for some turnovers it could have easily been 71-20. one of snyders best plays was the gilmer fumble return.

not quite if you are referring to the '83 D'field team .... if that were the case Snyder might not even cross midfield ...

Good morning East Texas, congrats to Gilmer Buckeyes. You guys have quite a team. They say speed kills and it looks like it did. Quick passes and a missed tackle or two and it was off to the races. Not sure why we didn't rush more than three men until the second half to a least try and put some pressure on the QB. By the way, did he sell popcorn at the half??? Great, great speed both offensively and defensively. Sorry I didn't make the meet and greet. Young son felt he needed ice cream and took forever to get it. To all the Buckeye fans, great turnout by your town. Cameron, was you son in the #56 jersey with the cat-in-the-hat??? Good luck to Gilmer next week. Jasper, you better put your track shoes on and be ready to play. Congrats to the Tigers on a great year when you were predicted to do nothing. True we could have been beaten in the first round, but we endured and went to the semis for the first time in the history of the school. Great year!! Hope this made a little sense, didn't get back to Snyder until four this morning and got woke up at 8.
