If I am not mistaken, both coaches had combined win totals of close to 500. Cartwright has been at Boyd forever, and I can't remember the Newton coach.
Last state championship for Boyd was when Billy Joe Tolliver (ex NFL and Texas Tech QB) led Boyd to a state title in 1983.
