This is a map showing how much light each city puts out at night.
Sinton has the red circle around it.

See how there aren't any lights in the Big Bend area? You would not believe how bright the stars appear out there! I could just sit for hours and star gaze when we make our annual trek!

SintonFan decided that we really didn't need that part of Texas with the snow and all!

That and the altitude make it an excellent observatory site...which is why there is one there...

There is an arrow pointing at La Grange so it was not that hard to find my town.

if you've never been to a place where you can really see the stars it can be quite amazing. i've spent a few hours north of Alice Springs, NT, Australia, along the Tropic of Capricorn, just lying on the hood of a car and looking at the stars. The southern hemisphere is better for thar than the northern hemisphere.

Actually you probably could see your house. I think terraserver.microsoft.com or microsoft.terraserver.com had great magnifiable overhead sattlelite computer images.
I'll try and find the link.
.
I'm still looking for the complete pics rr2000.;)

The zoom is than I thought it would be. :D
.
If you go to the link above you can actually zoom in to see your individual home. Only downer is this was taken in 1995, I believe.
Good luck!
Anyone can use the link above to find their home if it's not too rural.;)

I wonder what would happen if these pics would have been taken during Christmas season with all the lights?
I put out around 1500 lights on my house.:D
