My mistake. I was putting this together late last night. Vernon is basically in Oklahoma (just kidding!). Okay, with Vernon, the totals come out to 5 appearances and 1 championship.

Southlake Carroll is also a Region I school. Or they were at the time, because Vernon played them for the regional championship several years running. I wouldn't call them West Texas, but they are in Region I. I could probably go through the list and count out all the schools that are not true East Texas and I'm sure I would find plenty of them too.

Maybe someone who has more time than I do can do it. Or at least break it down by region. It is interesting though. I had no idea about all the great Cuero teams in the past.

you're right, they were region I and theres no way they're considered west texas, they're way too close to the dfw metroplex for that....

Aledo's not East Texas. Closer to North Central than anything else.

I did not count Aledo as an east Texas or a West Texas team.

I beleive that Aledo was in region I in 2001. It was either them or Commerce. Same colors and I can't recall. I know Vernon kcocked them out in the area round that year.

Must have been Aledo, as I now see Commerce won it that year.
