I am looking at getting my son a new baseball glove for Christmas.. I was told what size and kind to get but I forgot - does a 11 3/4 inch Rawlings Gold sound like the right kind of glove for 2nd base and center field?

hmmm 44.. thats a tough question.. if he wants a position specific glove then 2nd baseman/centerfield would wear 2 different types

If he plays both you may wanna go w/ a 12, but he should be ok w/ the 11 3/4. Rawlings makes a great glove.

Most, but not all 2nd basemen will wear a smaller glove. Either an 11 1/4 to 11 1/2 glove. If the kid plays outfield also then the 11 3/4 is fine, but most outfielders use a 12" or larger glove.
Now, Rawlings does make a good glove. Check out Nocona gloves too. Made in Nocona, Texas. Very good gloves.

There are gloves that are specified as "all pos. other than 1B and C" but for the most part these are different gloves. You could probably go with an intermediate size and be just fine at both, that's what I did, I played a little IF and OF in high schoo.

And yes, Nakona or Nacona, whatever are excellent gloves, great feel. Rawlings are good too.

Nokona gloves are great I had two of them in high school and still use them. They are more expensive but worth it if the person takes care of it. I also found that Nokona gloves are easier to break in than the other gloves that I had before.

I like the Nocona gloves and I think TPX makes a really good glove also. They probably both have websites to check when you get some free time.:)
