Abilene Wylie - 14, Decatur - 13
STEPHENVILLE – Abilen Wylie forced a Decatur fumble late in the fourth quarter and held on for the victory in the Class 3A Division I Region I final. With the victory, Wylie (10-3) moves on to play Royse City in a place to be determined.
Wylie was led by running back Michael Kiger who rushed for 105 yards on 18 carries, and scored on 14 yard run second quarter. Quarterback Case Keenum then followed the next drive with a 1-yard quarterback sneak. Keenum finished the game 7-16 passing for 80 yards.
The Wylie defense was outstanding against the run, as they held Decatur to 21 yards on 23 carries. The defense stopped five Decatur drives by sacking their quarterback for losses on third down.
Decatur's perfect season comes to an end as they finished 12-1. Decatur was led by quarterback Chandler Dane, who was 24 of 41 passing for 356 yards. Dane threw his only touchdown to wide receiver Jonathan Jones for 21 yards. Jones ended up catching eight passes 112 yards.
