:D I was just wanting to know if anyone had any insight on the other teams in the district? Who is the district favorite and the front runners for MVP? What does Lamesa and Seminole look like so far this year....

seminole should be good this year, i think presidio will win district, really, seminole should get second, i dont know about the third spot but i know monahans doesnt have a strong bball team this year

every starter on monahans's team last year was a senior, well off and on there was a junior but mostly all seniors

Monahans lost to Midland Christian in a warm-up game. They didn't look bad, just a little rusty. With more practice they should come around.

stockton beat kermit in kermit last week and beat alpine by 26 on friday. tonight they are playing midland christian......

yeah, kermit still had landon forga but he had no help, they will do good in 2a though...... we got a new coach and a new system the boys are still getting used to it...

greenwood had nothing but seniors, they had one junior on the roster, this will be a completely different team none of them have ever played at the varsity level

Hey lobo12 why do you think Presidio will win it all this year. They were a good team last yr but I did not think they were good enough to win the district. Have they had some more "move ins"

last year they were a good team but we had a hard district last year, and they have a lot of returners i think only one of their players was a senior and they can shoot lights out sometimes. they are used to playing on the road, and it is hard to play in presidio but i do think they can win district if they play like they did last year, they will be a playoff team for sure, and they will prolly win district in baseball as well

I'm still perplexed at the Greenwood situation. OK... even though they graduated a ton of kids how did their JV team do last year?
Where's the "feeder" system? Sure, there are teams that lose lots of seniors, but that's where the JV and Freshman teams come into play.

Watching Greenwoods JV last year I noticed that they were very competitive but there was not the same talent as was last yr. I know talent like that does not come through a school very often, but I do not think they will be as good. It is hard to have only one returning varsity player and be competitive. It has been done before though.

Greenwood will be competitive, they always are, but it is gonn abe hard for them with no varsity experience, but you never know, look at this years qb for them? Presidio is a horrible place to have to go play and yes they always seem to have move ins show up on the roster, i dont understande how they are a 3A team with about 5 paved roads in the whole town? Stockton lost to Christian by 9 and compete in the Andrew's tournament starting this thursday, they open up with andrews. What is everybody else doinf this week?

I just pulled out the Aransas Pass Boys Varsity basketball schedule. Looks like we will be playing Gregory-Portland here tomorrow night.

Guess it is time for me to change gears also. It has been fun watching football teams like Sinton, Ingleside and Port Isabel over the last few weeks.:(

I will still be cheering Cuero on though!:D

on second thought the only team that i think will beat presidio is seminole, they have back two post and a guard that are pretty good, so they MIGHT win the district title, them and presidio will fight it out, and the third spot is up for grabs. this district is no where near as hard as it was last year when greenwood and kermit had those talented teams

alright just checking i know exactly what you mean, they play midland christian on tuesday and the denver city tournament on the weekend. next week is the monahans tournament which is a huge tournament. they have to play a game just to get into the first round against shallowater, new basketball coach that started last year likes to give his boys some good preseason tests, last year we played dumas in the first round and almost pulled a huge upset, they have a long way to go but can be a good team if they play together

cool, we go to andrews and open up with them in their tournament, then it's off to the monahans tournament, we got a first year coach, he was in pecos last year so we are learning a new system. it should get intresting...

They were supposed to play Abilene High in Abilene last night....I'm kinda scared to see how that one turned out!!:eek:

Monahans lost to Christian by the score of 46-76. Pecos lost to stanton 45-61. Midland Greenwood barley lost to Abilene High by the score of 48-55, the paper said greenwood made a late charge but the eagles "held on" for the win. this was the AHS paper.... good job rangers

I will say the district is up for grabs between Greenwood, Seminole, Lamesa, Presidio and im going to throw in Ft.Stockton, I think really all the teams are equal and it will come down to who just plays better that night when the teams face off!
Panther Power you guys have a good coach, I think you guys will be fine with him there, as far as pecos, pecos looks to be struggling bad this year, hopefully they will improve to be a spoiler around district time.
