Sealy did beat Rice, which made all three teams tied for 1st. Sealy would have had to beat Rice by something like 7 or 8 points to get the good seed going in.

Doesn't your district count head to head games? If so, then Sealy should be d2 1st, right?

it is a 3 way tie for first...all 3 teams were 5-1....Rice is the D2 top seed and Sweeny is the D1 team..Sealy is the D2 runner-up

What I was trying to find out was if it made a difference for D2 head to head results. I guess not. Thanks Matthew328. Good luck to all teams!

I AGREE WITH THE PREVIOUS POSTER.
I UNDERSTAND ALL 3 TEAMS TIED FOR FIRST.

HOWEVER, IT IS CLEAR CUT ON WHO THE D1 REP. IS (SWEENEY)
THEN THE SEEDINGS FOR D2 SHOULD RESORT TO HEAD TO HEAD COMPETITION.
THEN SEALY WOULD BE TOP SEED FACING COLDSPRING AND RICE WOULD BE SECOND SEED FACING MADISONVILLE.

Apparently our district rules in 24-AAA are different than yours.

I agree with Sinton. In the case of 3 way ties, throw the DI team out, and go head to head to determine the top seeds. The point system is outdated, but it is up to the district executive comittee (district sups) to determine the format.

It certainly seems like that should be the case. With Sealy beating Rice, how much sense does it make for RC to go in as the #1 seed? It comes down to those two because Sweeny does not figure in. Oh, well, looks like we got jobbed again. Let the playoffs commence!
BTW, I looked at the playoff brackets and the District 23 teams must be better than I had suspected based on some of the posts I have read. What is the scoop on Madisonville at 8 - 2?

Everyone complaining about the seeding needs to settle down. Three teams are tied so you have a tiebreaker for all three teams. You cant just exclude the Sweeny matchup because they are definitely the D1 representative. If thats the case then we might as well dilute the district championship like we have diluted the playoffs and have a D1 champ and a D2 champ. Seeding is not going to matter much anyway, all of these teams have a real shot at winning Region 3 regardless of what bracket they are in.

I am sure you are correct, but hey, where's the fun in just accepting everything without a bit of squabbling?

It doesn't make any difference who plays who in the 24AAA vs 23AAA playoffs. 24AAA is gonna beat all three teams from 23AAA. That's a pretty weak district.

All I have to say is watch out for the Madisonville Mustangs. They have really jelled in the last couple of weeks. Could be they are going to give Sealy a good game. GO MUSTANGS!!!!!

So how about some info on Madisonville? What are their strengths? How is their size/speed? Who ae the kids we should expect to have an impact on the game? Who have they played outside district and how did they do?

Madisonville won't be a threat to Sealy. If Sealy can beat Rice, they won't have any trouble at all beating Madisonville.

OK, the kids you should be watching are QB Lance Byrd, Tailback&linebacker Jabor Manning, Quincy Johnson, just to name a few, also their defensive unit. They beat Mexia 39-6, they beat Navasota 28-13, and they beat Coldspring 32-8. You can't be sure that Sealy will win, didn't Tarkington beat Splendora??????

With this team, you can never be sure who's going to win. This year, we seem to play to the level of the competition, which means we played well against teams like Cuero, LaGrange, and Rice - not so well against Stafford and Wharton. What will this week hold? See ya at Tully tonight and we'll find out.

Well, PM, you can be real proud of the Mustangs effort against Sealy. They clearly came better prepared and more inspired that Sealy did. Hats off to Madisonville, they deserved to win.

Congrats Tiger Turtle, you guys pulled off another big win. From what Ive heard it was about as exciting as our game with Madisonville last year. Our boys responded well after last week's tough loss Sealy. They came out and jumped on Coldspring early and coasted on to victory. Both of us have VERY tough games next week though. Looks like its up to Splendora to save 23 AAA or there will surely be plenty of people calling out 23 AAA on Monday morning.

Get out the brooms! 2 great games, one blowout, but nonetheless, 24-3A won this round.
