you would be in the 240 pound weightc class i think... i think by the time state comes around you'll be lifting enough to make because right now you probably have enough to make it

Qualifying totals vary weight class to weight class as well as year to year. I am a 3x state and regional champion as well as a 2x national champioin in the SHW. I was squatting 450, benching 250, and deadlifting 500. I am now a judge with THSWPA/THSPA.

I benched 260, squated 400 and deadlifted 410

those are all my best totals.. i never got them all at the same meet

You would be placed in the 242's at that weight. lose a few lbs and you qualify for the 220's. It'll take every bit of 1450 to get to state in either of these classes. BUT, Powerlifting allows the use of squat suits, bench press shirts, and knee wraps so you can add undetermined amounts to whatever weight you can lift without these features. Good luck!!

better work really hard on the squat and the deadlift. 600 - 650 squat and 500 on deadlift will get you to where you want to be. good thing about these 2 lifts, technique really makes a difference.

you compete at individual meets and the meets turn in every individual's final Total weight to the regional officials, then the top 10 in the region compete at a Regional meet and then the top 2 from the regional meet in each weight class go to the state meet which is normally at TCU so you'd be close to it.. I am pretty sure there are 2 divisions 1A-3A and 4A-5A...

Tell me if that doesnt make sense and someone correct me if i'm wrong but thats how i remember it being

(no)... what about other schools... so i shut it... our coaches are really pushing us this off-season... tahts where u win games...(or for next season.. since play-offs are still going)

Every week the regional rankings are updated. The top 10 lifters in each wt class at the end of the invitational season are invited to regionals. The top 2 from regionals in each wt class and each division go on to state as well as anyone who makes the qualifying total to go to state. You can make the qualifying total without placing in the top 2. The totals are found on the thspa website under the rules section. As of yesterday the webpage hadn't been updated for this year. There are going to be three divisions this year: A-AA, AAA, and AAAA-AAAAA. I don't know where the state meet will be this year. Last year it was at Univ. of Houston.

now your talkin my language...i was a two time state qualifier, and 4 time regional qualifier. i was in the 132 lbs class, squated 385, benched 260, and deadlifted 385. in order to get to state its really simple, lift more than the other guy and your in. there is also tricks to doing certain thins like leading and chasing, but you'll learn what that is as the season goes along. if you have any questions about powerlifting, i know quite a bit and im training for the olympics '08 in this very sport, just pm me and ask away.

the thing you have to look at is the thspa.org they will give you the weights needed to qualify directly to state another way is to win the regional meet and win your way to state. ....just remember that bench has a pause and squats have to be almost below parallel. and DL can have no pauses.....good luck to you.

They have changed it now where there is 3 divisions. D-1 5a and 4a D-2 3a D-3 2a and 1a. I'm a sophmore this year, last year i weighed 114 and i lifted about 140 bench, 260 deadlift, and 235 squat.

Hey, Ive been doing this since i was a soph. We had two guys last year go to state in the SHW class. they placed 6th and 7th i think. I missed regionals by 5 pounds. I benched 280 squatted 480 and deadlifted 520. But I was also in the 220's(which is an extremely competitive class as someone has already posted) this year I look to make it into regionals and possibly state since i was the only junior close to making it last year. we had a soph. that was in my class to that missed it by 5 pounds also.

the first time i ever dead-lifted was like a week before thanksgiving, i was just messing around and i got 455, coach told me that it was more or less if your strong on squat you will do well on dead lift, i cant wait to see how i match up against everyone else! lol

you can also add 20 pounds to whatever your Squat is, cuz the leg wraps will prolly add that much to it
