1. Toilet Paper. Where would we be without this jewel of an idea.
2. Ramen Noodles. How many college students would starve without this invention.
3. Bottled water. Who knew all us idiots would pay a dollar for something we could get for next to nothing out of our own fawcet.
4. Plastic. Name just one thing in your house that that doesn't have some relation to plastic.
5. Refridgerators. How else would we be able to keep our beer cold without this invention.

** Everyone please add to this list **

that's the exact same reason women need insurance. driving is only getting 20% of their attention.

Wow!! It seems funny to me that my Insurance is higher on the MALE drivers in my home.

It also seems funny to me that the #1 most reckless (therefore highly insured) driver is the Male driver age 16-25!!

But...back to the thread about greatest inventions.

I don't how GREAT this is, but I had to use a mouse yesterday that didn't have a little "scrolly down thingy" on it.

So that is MY vote....the scrolly downer/upper on the mouse!!

As the mother of 3 male drivers, and mainly due to the oldest... Ranger Mom, I KNOW why it is higher lol lol........ Being an insurance agent.. honestly, I handle MORE female young driver incidents than male, but the most COSTLY incidents are due to young MALE drivers........ so not sure what that means lol in other words,, it seems the girls do more of a) backing into poles or other cars b) bumping into cars in front of them - while boys on the other hand then to flip trucks or drive through fences and total them. I am just thankful when an upset mom or dad calls me and all they are doing is reporting damage and not injury.

AND I agree.. the REMOTE CONTROL is a great invention

I have always heard that one of the greatest inventions was sliced bread. To surpass this great invention was to truly accomplish something noteworthy.

LMAO RangerMom!

I would start with the basics
1. The wheel
2. The car
3. Electricity
4. Phone
5. Refrigeration
6. Pasturization
7. Penicillin

You know, all those things that make us live over 1 year old and have a pretty laid-back "easy" life. We really don't know how fortunate we are. Just imagine living without the above things for a minute.

scrolly up/down thingy on mouth---a gift from some computer nerd out there-i love it!:nerd:
i think the BEST invention would be either the internet or cell phones...how else would we have learned to multitask and piss people off without leaving our desks?!?!?!
(and cell phones help when the car breaks down at night...it's all the guys' fault!!!)

How else would we:

Good point!

As I get older and my brain begins to lose things I'm afraid I have to cast my vote for one of the greatest inventions ever. My external brain annex -- my PDA.

1. BEER. Preferably served cold and free.

2. TIVO. If you ain't got it you ain't got it.

3. VICTORIA's SECRET. Giving men something to neutralize Zales and Foley's when out shopping for the wife.

4. THERMAL UNDERWEAR. So many things are enjoyable because of it...

5. THE GAME OF CRAPS. Genius... pure genius.

(honorable mentions were Bourbon Whiskey and The Dukes of Hazzard.)

To be a truly great invention it must posess the following qualities.

Nobody has one.
Everybody needs one.
Everybody can afford one.
There has been nothing like it before or since.

My vote goes to the WEEDEATER.

I realize this contradicts some of the earlier posts lol...but the printing press...otherwise we would not have The Bible widespread throughout the world...so that gets my vote
