I know its Sat. morning and everyone still has football on the brain, but I thought I'd share something with the class.

I grew up listening to people like Waylen, Willy, Johnny Cash, Merle, and George Jones. Mostly because that is what my Dad made me listen to. I'm 28 now and I consider myself a rock guy. I listen to stuff that most adults say "what is that guy screaming about?".

Earlier this year Johnny Cash covered a song called Hurt by Nine Inch Nails. It just happened to be my favorite song by my favorite band. He made a video for it that blew me away, and now that he has passed it is even more powerful. If you've never seen it or heard it well here ya go.

Here are the lyrics:

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything

Chorus:
What have I become
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
But you can have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
upon my liars chair
Full of broken thoughts
that I cannot repair
beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
but I am still right here

Chorus

If I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

I agree, it is pretty powerful when you think about it.
