The Orange Grove QB got up hurting a few times during lasts weeks game and he was fast on his feet. If PI gets to the Ingleside QB this game wont be close. Did you decide if you were coming to the Sinton/Zapata game tonight?
Okay -- so who is gonna exchange cell #'s w/ me to keep me posted on this game?? Anyone -- send me a PM! :)

Yeah they always turn it up a notch in the second half but those turnovers could be the factor......My source says PI has gone away with their game plan and tried different things....Apparently they are not working so we'll see the half time adjustments...

Wow! that was the most passing  I have seen in my life! I think I can count with one hand the running plays Ingleside ran.
Tarpons kept it close in the 1st half with 4 big turnovers. First one inside the 27 an INT. Stangs had some great speed on the offense, but the defense couldn't stop our offense, only PI stopped PI on offense. The Seawall D gave up some big plays that turned into 6 points. The pass defense bent but didn't break.
It was an offensive show; with the better defense making the difference in the end, wearing down Ingleside D. PI made a TD of Mustang fumble and was called no TD  made many fans get exited. But Tarpons D made adjustments at the half, as they were hitting the receivers at the line and not giving them that much cushion. I imagine it was like what happened to Ingleside against Cotulla, but this time it was PI. But, props to the Mustangs, they were good at what they did best and that was pass!

11-20-2004, 12:58 AM
Tarpons had a fumble in the first half, refs talked about it then they gave ingleside about 10yds of advancement... In the 2nd half the opposite happened, PI recovers an Ingleside fumble, picked it up and runs it back... its a sure TD right? wrong, the ball goes back to Ingleside, what the...!!! Crowd goes crazy :D
Man, PI gave the Ingleside receivers too much cushion  , so the qb kept on throwing pass without the receivers going out for pass, thus there were plenty of easy 5-7yd plays... PI adjusts its defense and played much closer to the receivers in the 2nd half (though adjustment should've been made in the 2nd qtr  )
The Ingleside combo of #8/#5 was pretty good... they had the majority of the big plays. Ingleside lead 17-14 at half-time... PI scores 21 unanswered points till Ingleside gets its last score with about 1:51 left in the game by the help of a huge kickoff return.

Port Isabel defeats Ingleside, advances to regional round
By MIKE GONZALEZ
The Brownsville Herald
November 20, 2004 — The conquest continues.
The Port Isabel Tarpons (11-1) took step number two toward a Class 3A Division II state championship with a 35-25 win over Ingleside in the area round of the state playoffs on Friday night at Sams Memorial Stadium.
The Tarpons next face Hallettsville, which defeated Brady 30-19, with a time and date to be determined later.
Down by three in the third quarter, Port Isabel coach Monty Stumbaugh made perhaps the call of a lifetime when he gambled on a fourth and inches from PI’s own 30-yard line.
On the play, quarterback Lando Ochoa (22 carries, 242 yards and three touchdowns) sneaked behind his offensive line and got four yards that gave the Tarpons a first down.
The game wasn’t the same after that. The Tarpons went on to score on that drive, which ate almost five minutes off the clock.
Trailing in the second half, Stumbaugh realized how gutsy the call was.
“I just said the heck with it,” Stumbaugh said. “We felt we had to do something.”
Running back Johnny “Nitro” Nieto (20 rushes, 133 yards and two touchdowns) iced the 79-yard drive with a remarkable 11-yard scamper up the middle after he eluded two Ingleside defenders, giving his team a 21-17 lead that it never relinquished.
The drive was started thanks in large part on a fumble recovery by Port Isabel cornerback Butch Martinez at the Port Isabel 21-yard line.
Leading 17-14 at intermission, Ingleside took the second-half kickoff and put the Tarpons in a hole. But Mustangs quarterback Randy Webb (20 carries, 28 yards and a touchdown) coughed up the ball, which resulted in Martinez’s recovery.
In the second half, the “Seawall Defense” rose to the occasion as it held the Mustangs to 42 yards of total offense. The defensive attack was led by linebackers Frankie Herrera and Ralph Valdez, defensive end Abel Woods as well as the secondary unit, which didn’t give up as many big passing plays like it did a week earlier.
“The secondary stepped up big-time,” Herrera said. “We also rushed the quarterback.”
The magic of Ochoa and “Nitro” couldn’t be denied as they combined for 372 yards of the team’s 416 yard total.
Early in the fourth quarter, Port Isabel broke the game open. Ochoa rumbled around the left side behind Herrera and broke loose for a 63-yard touchdown to give the Tarpons a 28-17 lead.
“It was a whole team effort,” Ochoa said about the run. “I saw pancakes off my line, and Frankie just leveled him (defender).”
The final straw came after Port Isabel got the ball back with about eight minutes left, and the domination by the offensive line continued.
The Tarpons drove for 52-yards to consume more than five minutes off the clock.
The drive featured a key 16-yard run by Ochoa that put the ball at the Ingleside one-yard line. The senior then called his number and sneaked it in to ice the contest.
Mistakes got Port Isabel in trouble in the first half. On the first drive of the game, the Tarpons drove to the Ingleside 27, but Ochoa was picked off by David Miller at the 15-yard line.
The Mustangs made things look easy as they marched down the field led by the combo of Webb (11-of-22 passing for 184 yards) and Brandon Stacy, who scored on a 61-yard run to put Ingleside up 6-0.
In the second quarter, Ingleside got its second break when the Tarpons turned the ball over at their 19-yard line. Three plays later, Webb scored on a one-yard run that gave the Mustangs a 14-7 lead after a successful two-point conversion.
Ingleside went on to score on three of its four possessions for the halftime lead.
Ochoa had nothing but praise for the quick and fast Ingleside team.
“They were a good football team,” Ochoa said. “We came out flat in the first half. There was no ‘Seawall (Defense)’ in the first half, but in the second half, we came out and held them to 42 yards total.”

yes footballgal, the brahmas run a spread offense out of the shotgun, they pass very well and seem to have a good running game. i don't think they have much depth.
