Trinity defeated College of the South Sewanee 43-3 Saturday to go 8-1 (5-0) to clinch at least a co-championship in the SCAC for the 12th straight year. A win over Milsaps next Friday will give them the title outright. The Sewanee game was exciting with the Tigers racking up over 500 yards total offense. Pudlugger's son, offensive tackle #70, played most of the second half making several excellent blocks to his father's delight.
The Tigers, ranked 7th nationally, also have secured a berth in the NCAA DIII playoffs and will meet 8th ranked Mary Hardin Baylor at home on Nov20th in San Antonio. This will be an exciting match-up of two different style offenses. MHBU runs the ball (much like my La Grange Leopards) with options and plenty of mis-direction stuff off tackle and up the middle. The TU Tigers have a wide open West Coast offense often out of the gun with 4 receivers wide and a lone setback.
Dan Des Plaines senior qb for Trinity is ranked 6th nationally in overall efficiency and is the top passer in the SCAC this year.
