I've never seen Crystal City play, but judging from the respective pf/pa ratios, Sinton should win this one by 30+.

good god. . . its the playoffs... give them some credit. . . Sinton by 29+

Sinton should win this one easy. This will be Crystal's first playoff appearance in 51 yrs. Expect a big fan turnout from them no matter where the game is played. They have some of the most loyal fans you'll ever see. The team is big up front and they have a pair of speedy backs. In fact I think one of them is named Speedy. Their kicking game is not very good. When we played them we block two or three of there pat's. This team like most dist. 29 teams lacks depth. This is a surprise team in the dist. They were not picked to make the playoffs as was Cotulla. This has been a crazy year for dist. 29. Most of the traditional powers here didn't make the post season. However its nice to see fresh new teams get in on the post season action.

Pirates may be a little outa whack because of the bye week. But I'll say Sinton by 40.

A good neutral field might be Pleasanton since it is halfway rather than San Antonio. Of course it might not be available.

I have predicted close ones for Sinton because I didn't want the team to get overconfident. This time I am going to take a chance and predict Sinton to win 48 to 6. By halftime I think Sinton should be four tds ahead. I know Crystal City has a great team and this is a proud time for them but Sinton has had two weeks off to prepare and scout. And I think the big play breaks will go their way.

oooohh thats by saint marys....where my bro is currently a freshman at. maybe if i go, ill chill with my brother b4 the game....if i can get there at a decent time. those directions may be a lil awkward though (in my opinion). when i go to saint marys (off of culebra) i take I37 to I10....then stay on I10 upper level until u get to culebra, then make a left from there...the rest is easy. either way works, but rush hour traffic may be pretty bad either way, so 410 may be better. i thought id offer u my opinion in route. GO PIRATES!

SintonFan
11-07-2004, 09:39 AM
The directions provided by pirate4state are the best. If you are going to the game early, I wouldn't suggest the I37 to I10 route. I10 has many construction projects that have slowed down the traffic. 410 is a little longer but with much less traffic.
Everyone drive safe.:)

I don't know about ya'll but I like travelin durin play-off time. Just don't seem as much fun when they're close to home. The only problem I have though is that it's on Friday. Gonna be tough gettin off early enough to get to the game. Then again I do have vacation time still. Course if I took off Friday then I'd wanna go to the waterin hole for some pre-gamers. That could cause a problem as far as drivin but since I ain't takin my truck it might work.

Playoff Brackets????

I am looking for a more user friendly set of Playoff brackets then what the UIL put out. I tried to print them for a friend (who doesn't have a computer) but they are too small to read. I tried to copy and paste them on Word and then manipulate the image, but that doesn't work either.

Just looking for a set that is larger (able to read) when you print them.

Thanks in advance,

Lets not forget these are the playoffs and every team in the playoffs deservers to be there because they are a good team. Also Crystal City got 2nd place in a tough district behind a tough Devine team. Another thing to remember is that this is the first time Crystal City made the playoffs in 51 yrs, so they will be hungry. With that being said I will go with Sinton in a close one. Sinton 14, Crystal City 7.

Yes, their mascot is a Javalina, and their school colors are green and yellow, or gold.

Ingleside played them early in the year (in Ingleside) and i think just came out flat against them...although...i am not taking anything away from Zapata, they were big, they were fast, and they had depth. ive said it all season long..they will be the dark horse this year.....guarenteed to upset SOMEONE.....my take on the Oso score is that....Oso has finally started banging on all cylinders and will no doubt do some damage in the playoffs.

Vernon Dixon is awesome, but somewhat of a one man team. When we played them, he was so tired by the 4th quarter, he could barely walk.:(

Sinton vs. Crystal City........

Eventually the UIL is gonna figure out that they should just let Sinton skip the first two rounds of the playoffs and give them an automatic bid to the third round. Thats when the real football starts getting played. Besides that is what Sinton prepares for year round. Anybody can beat those teams from the first 2 rounds but only good football teams can be competitive statewide. Sorry Crystal City but you are playing Sinton this week, and they're not like ANYBODY in your neck of the woods. SINTON 56 CRYSTAL CITY 13

When you go to the site and find a smiley you like, right click on the smiley, this will bring up a sub menu, click on "properties" and this will bring up another window, highlight the URL line in the address field, once it is highlighted, right click and hit copy. Now, when you post on the downlow, you can eith hit the IMG button and paste the link (make sure and delete what is in the window that pops up) or you can type in [*img]http://www.kit.netpoets.net/jump.jpeg[*/img] (but remove the *) and this should show the smiley you picked. Hey SHS fans... I am so glad that SHS did not have to play Hondo. I work in Hondo and have to listen to all the trash talking about how Hondo was going to beat Sinton this year. I gets to the point that I have to step out of the office to cool off. When I found out that Hondo lost, I could not keep my mouth shut. Things got a little hot in the office but no fist fights broke out. I bleed maroon and white even though I don't live there any more. I was even told to take my never ending S off my back window. I told them they know where to stick it. I do go home to a game or two during the regualr season. And love to see a good game. I will not miss this Friday for anything.... Will be glad to see friendly faces again.

That will get me 45 mins away instead of 2.5 hrs. I also go the the TAMUK games when I get a chance. A&I until I DIE also.. I remember you Phil C. Kind of met you on the bus to Aggie land a couple of yrs ago. My daughter graduated SHS in 01. Went to the games all the time then. My son wants to go back to graduate maroon and white also. He plays football up here, but not for Hondo. He also wears his old SHS football tees to school up this way. He knows where his alliegance lies. I will look for some of my old friends when we go to the game friday night. See you there!!!! GO PIRATES

AH...okay...but i was just wondering why they'd have an xmitter station so close to Corpus w/ them xmitting on AM band....w/ minimal wattage you can transmit TWICE as far as FM. and i know i can get KOUL in Victoria and beyond...although..they are probably pumping out some SERIOUS wattage. Amplitude Modulation -vs- Freq. Modulation.....FM is clearer, but AM travels farther as a general rule.

The answer to that question is, Yes. I understand that some of the Hondo players said that they knew that if they played Sinton in the first round they were going to lose anyway. They were ready to start basketball and get ready for baseball.

This station also webcasts on http:\\listen.to/radiolibertad. It is a hispanic station, but the broadcast of the games are english only.

Amplitude Modulation -vs- Freq. Modulation.....FM is clearer, but AM travels farther as a general rule.

KOUL is a high power FM station on a 1000 foot tall tower. Yeah, it's gonna go a ways. There are a bunch of AM stations in and around the Corpus area.

Since I didn't get credit for my prediction of the Ingleside game and just missing it by a point. I even got the fact that Ingleside would score first right. I have been quite and watching from the side of my monitor.

Sinton 53 Crystal City 14. Sinton is up 21 nothing at half time, but comes out like devil dogs in the third and goes crazy on them. CC doesn't score til late in the fourth quarter. I gave CC an extra TD just because I haven't seen them play.

For those who haven't seen it all of the "smaller" schools were joined together in an article and here is what they had to print about Sinton.

SINTON VS. CRYSTAL CITY

Crystal City (5-5) hasn't been to the playoffs in 51 years, but Sinton coach Jimmie Mitchell said that doesn't mean the Javelinas are going to be easy prey for the Pirates in Friday's Div. I playoff game at Gustafson Stadium in San Antonio.

"They're a team that plays hard," Mitchell said. "They haven't been to playoffs in a long time, so you know they're going to be excited. We're going to have to match that intensity."

Sinton was off in Week 10, which gave the Pirates extra time to heal and prepare for the first round. Now that it's time to start the postseason, Mitchell said the players and coaching staff is ready to get back on the field.

First the Pirates (8-2) went through two weeks of working on blocking and tackling fundamentals. Despite not having a game last Friday, Mitchell said the Pirates haven't complained.

"We're trying to duplicate the speed in practice that we're going to see in the game," Mitchell said. "We just tried to work ourselves back up to where we were. The kids have worked hard."

Mitchell has some concern that last week's open date could cost the Pirates the momentum generated from a fourth straight undefeated run to the district championship. It's nothing Mitchell or any other coach hasn't experienced before, he said.

"I think every coach worries about it," Mitchell said. "Last year the bye really helped us, and we've tried to handle it the same way this year."

GO PIRATES!! :cheerl:

My daughter hunts with me also. Bought her a .223 rifle last year and she shot a javelina. Missed a spike, but I was quite impressed with her accuracy with a gun. She seems to enjoy being outdoors and DAD really enjoys spending time with her in this environment. Nothing better!!

My daughter has never shot an animal and that is cool with me. We just like the peace and quiet. The middle son could care less about hunting but can outfish just about anyone. And the youngest was Davy Crockett in a previous life. I hope he is MLB for the pirates in about 13 years.
