Sorry BC, no disrespect intended, but I'll say WOS by 5 TD's.

WOS wins in a runaway. 48-6

This game maybe closer than you guys think. WO-S coaches have their eye on the big prize and will not do anything to take unnecessary injuries and if anyone is banged up at all, like last week, they will not suit out.

I think WO-S will pull out the win on the feet of Beasley, but it might be closer than anyone expects. BC folks want this to become a rivalry, and they'll be giving us their best effort.

Stangs by 4 or more TD's

WO-S takes this one big by 5 TD's or more even if they pull off the starters early.

WO-S in a rout 55-9. BC has a pretty good kicker 3 FG's for the Cards.

WO-S is 5 TD's better than anyone in this district.

I hear about what you are saying about "the big prize", but I see a similiar game as the H-F or Anahauc game. Bridge City is better coached, so there will be that to contend with, but BC doesn't have the speed or skills of WOS. I look ofr Dan to get a comfortable lead, then pull key people to guard against injuries. I hope I don't have to eat crow on this. If the 'Stangs stay focused, no problems on this one.

I'm not sure why but I feel like this will be a closer game than everyone is predicting, but honestly I dont know enough other than hype about either of these teams to make a realistic prediction, I just think BC keeps it at the least respectable

BC has gotten better as the year has progressed. I think the can keep it to within 20 points.

Dont count bc out so quickly. they'll play you hard for 4 quarters no matter what the score....but WOS still gets the victory by 14

What worries me about this game is that WOS may go into the game, taking BC too lightly. WOS has encountered ZERO competition in 24-3A, and that has a way of dulling your senses. Anyway, if BC jumps up and really plays ball, I feel confident that WOS will rise to the occation. Dan Hooks wants to win district outright, and move to the playoffs, yet not expose his best players to injury any more than he has too. With this in mind, I see WOS getting a comfortable lead, then having the starters pulled to avoid injury. The big factor here is the fact that WOS has competed in the toughest 4A district in the state for the last few years. When you go from the toughest 4A to a weak 3A district, things get real boring. 4A is a totally different level of play. And while the competition has not been there, WOS has gone into each game not really knowing about the opponent. Bridge City NEVER beat WOS when they were both 4A, and other than a couple of fairly close games, they scores were always lopsided in favor of WOS. I really don't think this one will be any different.

X Man,
While I agree with you for the most part, I don't think that BC is better coached (previous posting on page 1). ;)

I only hope that WO-S' two losses in the preseason hasn't been in vain because one thing about losses is they are hard to swallow and uncomfortable to deal with, but if you can learn from them and figure out how NOT to feel that way again, then as a team, things should be fine. I have been impressed with this year's team's ability to play (for the most part) as a team, even though there is still some work to be done!

I do think that WO-S will beat the Cards, but as far as a prediction...I just gave one...who cares if we beat them by 1 point or 50...as long as we get the win. This has been some time coming. :D

I say they are better coached because they have consistantly gone deeper in the playoffs than anyone else in this 3A district.

How can you say they are better coached because of that? They did not even make the playoffs last year in this weak district and almost didn't get in this year. I can guarantee you that bc is not even close to being as well coached as the Mustangs are. Not even close!! If the Mustangs had been in this 3A district we would have been district champs for the last forever years.

I think the BC coach is very good. However, I wouldn't say he is a better coach than DRH. One thing that is not in question--WOS has better talent than any one in that part of the state. If both coaches had equal talent I would say "flip a coin."

Both are loaded but the overall talent race goes to Jasper.

there is no way you can flip a coin between Tarver and Hooks. Ask the majority of the bc fans about that!!! They have been screaming about their coaching all year.

Skin 2004....there have been a lot of disgruntled bleacher coaches in BC this season. (can you be gruntled?) The game against HF was a donkey stomp in the second half and ALL the coaching happened on the field. HF stadium's visitor side is very small and I was in the pressbox the whole game. There was great cheering from the fans but the bleacher coaches were silent.

Dan Ray's long history of playoff experience, 2 state championships and two runner ups tip heavily in his favor. Different people judge coaches in different ways. Coach Tarver is a quiet, unassuming person and DRH is a bit more boistrous. They are both excellent coaches and they get a lot out of their kids.

SKIN 2004, I am a WO Chief grad from ages ago. I support our local teams and hope they do well in their respective divisions. BC will meet Liberty of Barbers Hill in the first round. Who will WO-S meet?

Pigskin 2004

Huffman Hargrave Falcons

WOS1
11-02-2004, 02:04 PM
We play Huffman in the first round at several potential venues, one of which could be the Dome.

Hey Pigskin, I don't think that Xman meant that BC was better coached than WO-S, I think he meant they are better coached than the other teams in the district that we've played...

Call me a homer, but I've got to disagree with that... I know you saw us play in week 0, but you really can't judge a lot from that game. I do think we are very comparable talent wise with the exception of Kenneth Beasley. I don't think there are many teams in the state with a player of this caliber, seriously.

Jasper and WOS always match up well talentwise. I don't think this year was any different. You had two teams that played sloppy football in week 0, so it's really difficult to judge based on that one game -- I doubt it was either team's finest moment. I watched the Jasper/NED scrimmage and the WOS/NED game, and the two teams looked light years apart vs. the shared opponent; however, comparing common opponents doesn't usually tell the whole story, either.

Regardless, it's a subjective issue and I guess everyone will have their own beliefs. Either way, I hope both WOS and Jasper can have great playoff runs in their respective divisions. :)

We'll meet second round if both teams can get that far. It should be a good game, also. Silsbee always plays WOS tough.
