WACO, Texas (AP)

Shawn Bell threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Dominique Ziegler in overtime and they connected again for the game-winning 2-point conversion, lifting Baylor to a 35-34 upset of No. 16 Texas A&M on Saturday night.

After Texas A&M's Keith Joseph scored on a 16-yard touchdown run on the first possession of overtime, Bell and Ziegler led the Bears to the stunning finish.

Bell completed a pass for no gain on the Bears' first play, Anthony Krieg rushed for 13 yards on second down and then Bell rolled out to his right before finding Ziegler just inside the goal line.

Baylor coach Guy Morriss (3-5, 1-4 Big 12) boldly decided to go for the two, hoping to catch the Aggies by surprise.

In a huddle on the raucous sideline, Morriss told the players ``Guys, we're going to go for it, is that what you want?,'' Bell said. ``Everybody said, 'yes sir.'''

It worked to perfection.

Baylor ran the same play again, with Bell scrambling around to his right looking for anyone in a green jersey. He zipped a pass to Ziegler just in front of A&M defensive back Melvin Bullitt for the score, setting off a wild celebration at a school that's had few things to party about in recent years.

Gold and green-clad students stormed the field, quickly taking down the goal posts in the south end zone and carrying them up and out of Floyd Casey Stadium. Loud music blared over the stadium speakers -- oddly fitting at a Baptist university that didn't allow dances on campus until eight years ago -- and a mosh pit formed on the field.

A&M players and fans watched the improbable scene in utter disbelief: the Aggies had won the last 13 games against their overmatched rival, including a 73-10 rout at College Station last year.

Baylor also ended an 11-game skid in the Big 12 and beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 1998, a 33-30 victory over 20th-ranked North Carolina State. The Bears are 38-143-5 against Top 25 teams.

This was an especially sweet night for Baylor after allowing a touchdown in the final minute of a 26-25 loss to Iowa State last week. Not to mention the years of futility against Texas A&M and nearly every other team in the Big 12 since the league formed in 1996.

Playing in relief of injured starter Dane King, Bell came through with a remarkable performance in his first start since the final two games of last season, both lopsided loss to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

The sophomore from nearby China Spring completed 32 of 50 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns, two to Ziegler, who caught 12 passes for 121 yards.

The loss takes much of the steam out of the Aggies' matchup with No. 2 Oklahoma in College Station next Saturday. It would have been a showdown of unbeaten teams in the Big 12 South.

Not anymore. Baylor put an end to all the Aggies' big plans.

A&M quarterback Reggie McNeal committed his first two turnovers of the season in the loss, throwing an interception and losing a fumble. He had been the only starting quarterback in Division I-A without an interception thrown this season.

McNeal finished 20-of-31 for 268 yards with two touchdowns. He was sacked a season-high four times -- he'd only been dropped five times coming into the game.

``We made too many mistakes tonight and they capitalized on those mistakes,'' McNeal said. ``We remembered what happened last year and we knew they were going to be out to beat us tonight.''

Baylor rallied from a 10-point deficit at halftime, and came back to tie the game four times in the second half.

Ziegler hauled in a 32-yard catch with just under six minutes left, streaking down the sideline for a touchdown that tied the game at 20.

McNeal responded quickly, finding Chad Schroeder way behind the Baylor defense for a 49-yard touchdown pass just four plays and 58 seconds later.

But Willie Andrews returned the ensuing kickoff 59 yards to give the Bears excellent field position.

Bell and Co. took over from there.

The Bears went 41 yards in eight plays, with Bell capping the drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Trent Shelton to tie the game at 27 and send the game into an extra period.

So here it is, Aggie bashing time. Yeah we bragged about beating some teams, who wouldn't after having a season like last year? We didn't do anymore bragging than UT fans do. Can we not be excited that we have had a great turn around? Can we not hope for a win against Texas? We have opinions too. What everyone is saying is that we should just give up on our team and have no confidence in them just because a few of you guys have different opinions. I have supreme confidence in the Aggies and feel like they have the talent to WIN the next three. You can say I am bragging, annoying, whatever the crap you want, but I will always stand up for my team. Yes, I am VERY disappointed with the way they played yesterday. I know they went out expecting to cream Baylor. This is only a minor set back. The next three weeks should be a wild and exciting ride. I expect some huge surprises. GIG'EM AGGIES!!!!!!!!!

No one is bashing you, from what I've read. But what did happen was how you and other A&M posters on this BBS got over excited about the play of your team and kept stating how "TU sucks" and how yall are gonna kick our butts at DKR. You all kept bashing the UT program but never gave any commentary whatsoever to back it up with. Now that you've lost to Baylor, it just seems funny to us. (oh, and I'll bet anyone that an A&M poster will take this reply out of context and think I'm dogging them and their program, when clearly I'm making a well thoughtout reply.)

UT has us in their song too. So its not just us that take shots.

I don't think that is a "shot" at A&M. More like it's one line, compared to the entire song dedicated to UT that is sung by you guys. That fight song was made a long time ago. No one on campus, or even the alumni for that matter, make it a point to always scream or yell "goodbye to A&M" when that part comes up. Frankly, we don't care. As I've said numerous times before and I'll always say it--Our main rival is OU--PERIOD.

So A&m losing to Baylor has nothing to do with UT. Us Longhorns are just laughing because you always look at thing through your maroon colored glasses...and now look where that got you--a loss to BU.

Bottom Line - Stop thinking your all high and mighty all the time.

Oh, and Hook 'Em!

I am a UT fan first but when it comes to playing out of state schools then I support the ones in state. I plan to be at the Big 12 soccer tournament on Wednesday and I will be cheering the Lady Horns when they play Nebraska and after that game I will be cheering the Lady Aggies when they play Oklahoma State. I would love for both teams to win and keep winning and play in the championship game on Sunday and if so I would have to cheer for the Lady Horns there. Either way I hope both teams do well and get invited to the playoffs by the NCAA.

Whats wrong with getting over-excited??? I think that we have a great chance to win this year against UT still, and I will voice it. Only a few have said UT sucks, not all of us. And how do you get that we act all high and mighty?? Because we have confidence in our team and show it? Because we feel like we can hang with anyone and beat them? If I am mistaken, correct me, but isn't that the way you are supposed to be if your a true fan? Aren't you supposed to be behind your team 100% and be fully confident that your team can wion anytime? Bulldog, thanks for asking those questions and not being an _____ about it. I appreicate it.

What I was getting at is that if you go back and look at the posts over the course of the last few weeks or so, some of your Aggie friends kept bashing VY, the UT program, Mack Brown, and UT itself--hence, the high and mighty attitude. It may not have been you, but you know what I mean.

Of course, I say support your team at all costs. I agree 100%. But when supporting your team requires you to degrade other programs and act like yours is now the best thing since sliced bread, then that's where I have the problem.

A&M's defense could win games for them.... if their secondary didn't suck so bad. A&M has had the best run defense in the Big XII since they inserted the faster LB's and Lee Foliaki and tweaked the D-Line after the Utah game. Peterson may account for three TD's, but the coaches here in College Station are more worried about what White can do to their nonexistant secondary than the matchup between the best RB and the best run D. Justin Warren runs a 4.5, all of the D-Lineman can fly, and the front seven are a giant electromagnet to the ballcarrier. Problem is it's hard to fly to the ballcarrier if he's 35 yards downfield. When White starts airing it out, everything will open up for Peterson. It STARTS with White this Saturday.

Im still worried about AP, but not as much as White. After the way Baylor picked apart our secondary, I don't see how our DBs are going to keep up with their wide receivers. Well, we will see come saturday. I hope the Ags are in a totally different mindset than they were two days ago. I'm sure this is definately a humbling experience. I have a few players in my class this morning and they all expressed hwo ready they were to take some revenge and vent some frustration this weekend. They said that they are determined to win. I hope they can do it. The talent is there, they just have to eliminate the mental mistakes and little things that haunted them this weekend.
