Oh man its coming down to this, like Lobo12 said it was already heated enough now going to be even more heated, mistakes will play a big factor. So any predictions? Well, with Greenwood at home and with a full house and everyone healthy and playing well, Greenwood by 7 or 10. Kenyon better bring it cause # 7 will creap up and pick it, and he does got some int. yards too. Let the heated rivalry begin!!!

Ranger05
10-30-2004, 01:34 PM
this will be a close one i really think greenwood has the edge in this one i will say greenwood by 7 or less

Ranger Mom
10-30-2004, 01:39 PM
I don't even want to predict..I am hoping playing at home and the fact that Bronson has seemed to bring the "spark" that has been missing will play in our favor!

GO RANGERS!!

Ranger05
10-30-2004, 01:40 PM
i agree with ranger mom i really think this one will be to close

If anybody wants a great game this is probably the game of the week in West Texas

lobo12
10-30-2004, 01:46 PM
monahans's offense is hard to stop. they have put up over 45 a couple of times this year. i dont know what is better, greenwoods offense or defense but this could turn into a shootout, and i do think that monahans will win but if they dont i will say the same thing as some of the sweetwater fans did this week. if greenwood wins then they earned it and congratulations and yall can let me have it, but im goin with monahans by 7, i just dont think greenwood can stop monahans's passing attack. monahans can't go to greenwood and show up like they did agains c city or it will be a long night. they have to show up with their best game in order to win. this will be a GREAT game!!!

Ranger05
10-30-2004, 01:49 PM
Greenwoods defense has been the strength all year the only thing that cant happen is the defense cant stay out there all night like it did against abilene wylie.

lobo12
10-30-2004, 01:50 PM
monahans has more of a quick strike offense in my opinion, is greenwood the same way or do they grind out the clock with the running game

Ranger05
10-30-2004, 01:51 PM
grind the clock with a few big plays here and there nothing like the quick strick offenses we have had the past 2 years

westTXbest
10-30-2004, 01:55 PM
i dont think it will be a it will be a high scoring game, but i really do think it is going to be very close. But the better team will when this one and good luck the the loboes passing attack.

lobo12
10-30-2004, 01:56 PM
sounds good, i cant wait till friday it should be interesting

westTXbest
10-30-2004, 01:57 PM
Man im going to be nervous all week, some of the fans might need to bring an extra pair of britches, if u know what i mean.

lobo12
10-30-2004, 02:01 PM
it doesnt get any better than this though. unless your getting to play!!

I don't think if we hadn't been alternating QB's that night, that would have happened.

That being said, I think Valencia and Company will be able to keep the offense on the field longer!

This is an entirely different team - offense wise anyway - than what played Abilene Wylie!

lobo12
10-30-2004, 05:23 PM
monahans can run the ball too they are not one dimensional with the pass

westTXbest
10-30-2004, 10:14 PM

Darn!! The game of the week and we GAINED an hour.

Is it Friday yet???

Ranger05
10-31-2004, 02:28 PM
i wish it was friday already im pretty excited about this one this game is just going to intensify the rivalry. But i like the Rangers chances they are a totally different team from 2 or 3 weeks ago the offense is clicking i would hate to be the opposing team facing them right now the defense has picked it up and ive been impressed with the 2 safetys this year i knew #8 was going to have a great season. I knew that #7 would have a good year but not anything like the season hes been having so far this year if he doesnt get 1st team all district i will be really suprised.

Ranger Mom
10-31-2004, 03:38 PM
I have to wonder why #7 isn't utilized on special teams and offense some...I think we would be a weapon there also!

westTXbest
10-31-2004, 07:05 PM
I really dont understand the decisions they make sometimes, some of them are really ridiculous and sometimes i dont think they r all there.

lobo12
10-31-2004, 07:17 PM
they are coaches for a reason they have gone to school and coached for many years and know what they are doing. we might not always understand why they do what they do, but i figure that they know more about the game than i do

Ranger05

i agree i think #7 should be a WR hes always caught everything when we played together he could catch pretty much anything throw his way. hes a great athlete

Ranger05
11-01-2004, 12:03 AM
another thing i dont understand is y dont they give #34 the ball hes a big guy 6'3 230 and he runs a 4.5 40 everytime he gets the ball he punishes and runs over ppl. Plus there was a rumor that some D1 schools were looking at him to play college ball as a fullback or tailback. If i remember right we had a scout from notre dame come out in the spring to watch #34.

Wtx_coach
11-01-2004, 09:37 AM
Well Ranger05, I would have to say he probably doesnt get the ball due to hes yall leader on defense and coach Purser probably wants him fully rested to anchor yalls defense, im pretty sure he will be used in fridays nights game since you guys are playing for the playoffs!!

As far as the game goes, this is a hard one because you really never know which Monahans team is going to show up, if they show up and are able to move the ball I would go with the loboes but if Greenwood powers the ball and eats up the clcok which I think I will they will, they will win the ball game easily, I will have to go with the RANGERS in this one, due to the loboes unconsistency all year-Rangers by 10

Black & Gold
11-01-2004, 10:55 AM
Greenwood takes this one.

lobo12
11-01-2004, 11:26 AM
wtx coach is right in order to win the right monahans team has to show up. if they play like they did against midland christian they will be hard to beat. its hard for me to make an accruate prediction though because i have not seen greenwood play. i know they lost alot but i dont know what they have brought up to fill the positions. you cant accurately judge a team by the way they have played other teams so im not exactly sure what to expect with them getting back their starting qb but i think monahans will win but it will be a close high scoring game

westTXbest
11-01-2004, 02:09 PM
So lobo12 does the monahans people and fans support and show up to the games.

panther power
11-01-2004, 06:54 PM
Greenwood by 10! monahans can not stop anybody that has an offense that has a pulse. i think they give up about 30 points a game and there playing in greenwood. they just try to outscore the opponent and sometimes they do. but kenyon is the offense and he does fumble. i just dont see anybody in the monahans defense stopping brooks.

lobo12
11-01-2004, 07:33 PM
i dont thinkt there will be any fights, and kenyon is not the offense

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:36 PM
yeah he is, who else they got, when he dont pass he runs, no running game, and no recievers......he just throws it up and hopes a lobo catches it

westTXbest
11-01-2004, 07:40 PM
Panther Power so they run out the srpead right snd when he dont pass he kepps it and runs is he quick?

lobo12
11-01-2004, 07:40 PM
yeah thats how they put up over 45 pts 3 times this year, and over 30 a couple of others he just throws it up no good receivers nothing he just throws it up. there are alot of good receivers, monahans has a great running back, and good receivers, and a decent line. they have a good offense. the defense needs to step up but they will be fine. kenyon is not the offense

westTXbest
11-01-2004, 07:43 PM
I really think that brooks is the best running back greenwood has ever had.

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:44 PM
either way that u see it they are on the brink of watching the playoffs at home on the 5th quarter, get the basketballs ready and the sneakers out.........

lobo12
11-01-2004, 07:45 PM
better than both of the audas brothers? i dont know which one was better, but i know jeremy was always a great running back

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:45 PM
brooks is a good runner, i thnk he should be 1st team running back, 2nd team is hill, and 3rd team is garvin...

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:46 PM
brooks has the size and speed.. the audus bros didnt have what this kid has

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:50 PM
and yes, kenyon is quick but he is not even close to be in the top 7 fastest guys in the district......he is football quick but way to small to be a legitimate college prospect, maybe a little school(sul ross, McMurry,etc...)

lobo12
11-01-2004, 07:50 PM
we will see about that panther power. there is no way that yall are goin to get out of the first round anyway. this is the first year yall have been good in how long. not very. and you are talking like yall have been a powerhouse for years. im calling this one jsut like i called seminole beating stockton.Monahans will win and if not i am prepared to eat my share of crow. i think it will be a good game between two teams that should have both beat stockton. maybe yall are the ones who need to break out the basketball shoes early, maybe yall can win a district game this year

lobo12
11-01-2004, 07:51 PM
i never said anything about college. i dont think he is big enough to play in college, and where did the top 7 fastest guys in the district come from

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:52 PM
look at you, u mad buddy? just take the loss and move on, better think about greenwood cause they are a way better team all-around. Brooks is off the hook and let's face it, monahans aint got a defense, there just 11 guys running around the field looking for the ball.....and in district basketball, let's get it on!

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:53 PM
the fastest guys came form a person asking if kenyon is quick....scroll up buddy!

lobo12
11-01-2004, 07:54 PM
i have nothing to look ahead to all i do is observe. and i have no clue what monahans has for basketball this year. all i know is last year i did get it on

panther power
11-01-2004, 07:55 PM
should of, would of, MAYBE could of------ BUT DIDNT!

Monahans 47- FORT STOCKTON 48!!!!!!

damn those extra points, thats why u dont wear tape on your kicking foot genius!

lobo12
11-01-2004, 07:59 PM
all i did was congratulate ft stockton when they won. they were the better team that night they won. thats all you can say. yall beat us. y are you telling me to wear tape you act like im the kicker or for that matter even play. and we do have a good kicker he missed one it happens to everyone. wilbur missed one against us last year and i still think he was one of the best kickers in the state. everyone makes mistakes. good luck with the rest of the season

panther power
11-01-2004, 08:02 PM
dont get it twisted, i give you and the loboes props, i always have but when i sense some tension i will bash with the best of them. you know stockton and monahans are the rivals so we gotta talk stuff to eachother, but it's in good fun. dont get your feelings hurt buddy. good luck friday night against greenwood and if, if you get into the playoffs let's represent the district good...

lobo12
11-01-2004, 08:05 PM

11-01-2004, 08:10 PM
Man i liek this crap talking that what makes this board interesting. Yes the Audas brother were good dont get me wrong but they didnt have the drive that Brooks has and he wont go down unless there r three guys pulling him down.

panther power
11-01-2004, 08:16 PM
thats very true! brooks is the 1st team running back in the district, hill from seminole should be 2nd, and garvin from stockton should be honrable mention.... jefferson from stockton is the MVP hands down....

westTXbest
11-01-2004, 08:31 PM
Yeah that Jefferson kid is very good, i was impressed!! Imagine him and brooks in the same back field.

panther power
11-01-2004, 08:35 PM
it would be over! jefferson is playing hard onnhis bumm injury, and he still puts up numbers.....

lobo12
11-01-2004, 08:36 PM
i will compare brooks and hill after the game on friday. does brooks have alot of speed? he has some high standards for me to watch for because hill played such a great game against monahans and i was so impressed with him

westTXbest
11-01-2004, 08:41 PM
I know hill is pretty decent but he didnt do jack crap to Greenwood, he had maybe 40 or 50 yards the whole game.

panther power
11-01-2004, 08:42 PM
brooks has speed and power, he is a big kid. hill gets his numbers from his carries. did u see how many carries he had against us, i thinkn it was 45! that is their offense, after 45 carries anyone can put up #'s. but he is small framed but he hits the hole like a wild man, a bit cocky and a bad sport, does not play defense and returns kicks.. brooks is the better runner

westTXbest
11-01-2004, 08:42 PM
How was he in stockton?

panther power
11-01-2004, 08:44 PM
in stockton they ran 3 plays, toss right, toss left, and the occassional dive. that's it! but after 45 carries i could put up over 100 yards, no, my sister could! they pass about every 5 plays and they do not punt. no matter how far 4th down is they go for it. they run alot of reverses and tick plays, i think they ran 4 against us

lobo12
11-01-2004, 08:46 PM
he wasnt cocky or a bad sport against us. he gave all the credit to his line and seemed to be a good sport. i thought he was big does he not weigh about 200. i thought brooks was the small one unless he grew i didnt think he was that big last year but maybe he was and i wasnt paying attention

westTXbest
11-01-2004, 08:46 PM

Well Rushing i got Brook 1145 on 130 carries, and Jefferson 1100 on 160 carries.

panther power
11-02-2004, 08:59 AM
wayne jefferson was 1s team running back last year as a qb because the coaches felt he was 1st team but did not have enough room in the qb position because of wilbur and kenyon so they gave him running back, he led the district in rushing last year.

panther power
11-02-2004, 10:06 AM
well we will have to wait to see about that. he played the game against seminole on 1 leg, he could not run. that 's why we only had about 70 yards rushing, it wasnt the seminole defense, we just didnt run the ball.. he stilll had 3 td's passing and 200 yards passing on that 1 leg, he's gonna rest up and save his goods for the playoffs, it's gonna be fun to watch him against wylie..

he had 7 carries, 2 were scrambles.

ONLY KNOW/CARE BOUT THIS TEAM..2004.
BUT DO KNOW THAT EVERY 9 TIMES THAT YOU SNAP THE BALL YOU GET A TD, YOU SHOULD WIN. TIME OF POSSESION WAS 39.49 TO 9.11, BALL CONTROL WILL KILL OFFENSIVE OUTPUT V. PANTHERS.
ALSO SEMINOLE NEVER PUNTED, LIKE UP TO PUNT BUT RAN THROWBACK (FAKE SCREEN RT.) TO P.P. ON 4TH AND 9>
ALSO KNOW SECONDARY HAD WORST GAME OF THE YEAR.
ALSO HICKMAN WAS LEADING TACKLER.

OK, LET'S START OVER.
"WE" NEED AN IQ TEST BEFORE YOU ARE ALLOWED A PASSWORD FOR THIS BOARD.
I AM GOING TO COME CLEAN CAUSE Y'ALL CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT.
I COMPILE THE STATS FOR THE ENTIRE DISTRICT, EACH WEEK. HAVE DONE IT FOR 2 YEARS. THEY ARE FAXED TO THE COACHES EVERY WEEK, NEWSPAPER , SCOUTING SERVICES, UIL OFFICIAL RECORDS, ETC.
AND THEN I GET ON HERE AND 'RATTLE ALL Y'ALL CHAINS WITH THE MULTI PERSONALITY BS AND TRY TO INCLUDE SOME REAL INFO. ,STATS, ETC. IN THE MIX.
ALSO THERE ARE 3 PEOPLE USING THE NAME OF DIRTROAD, AS IN THE ALL THE STAT CREW.
I WORK DIRECTLY WITH ALL OF THE COACHES IN THE DISTRICT EACH WEEK, AND KNOW AND CONSIDER SEVEAL OF THE MY FRIENDS, RESPECT ALL OF THEM AND THE JOB THAT THEY DO.
I WAS FIX'EN TO GIVE YOU THE OFFENSIVE OUT PUT RUN/PASS RATIO SINCE GREENWOOD GOT THEIR QB BACK, BUT NOW I AIN'T.

ALSO HAVE COMPLILED AN NFL STYLE "QB RATING SYTEM' FOR THE DISTRICT.....AND WAS GONNA POST IT, BUT JUST THINK IT WOULD GIVE Y'ALL MORE CHANCES TO SAY SOMETHING STUPID.
ANYWAYS. SO LONG HAVE A GREAT LIFE...THIS AIN'T NO FUN NO MORE.

Here is the article!!

Jarrel Brooks is simply the "the man", according to Greenwood head football coach Bob Purser.

That's not an overstatement when talking about Brooks, a three-year letterman for the Rangers. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior running back/linebacker has done it all for Greenwood this season. He is the leading rusher (1,172 yards on 133 carries), the leading tackler (96) and a valuable senior leader.

"He's really been all-everything for us on both sides of the ball," Purser said. "He's not only done a great job being a leader but he's the kind of player who wants to play 48 minutes and makes plays on both sides of the ball.

"He's just what you want to call a Greenwood Ranger," Purser added. "He's a go-getter, extremely physical and loves to play football."

Against Lamesa last Friday, the Reporter-Telegram's Area Player of the Week rushed for 193 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. Brooks added 16 tackles on defense in the Rangers' 34-0 victory, which set up Friday's showdown against Monahans. As it stands, three teams, including Greenwood, are tied at 3-1 and in first place in District 3-3A. A Greenwood win puts the Rangers back in the playoffs.

"We knew with our situation we had to win that game," Brooks said. "We still want to win a district championship and we knew we couldn't do it without beating Lamesa."

The Lamesa game proved to be one of the best all-around performances of the year -- not only for Brooks but the rest of his team.

"Everybody was real focused, we knew what we had to do and we got it got done," Brooks said.

As far as his performance in the game, Brooks was quick to credit his teammates.

"The offensive line did a great job opening the holes," Brooks said. "As a unit we clicked and we all worked together to get it done.

"On defense, it was incredible to see the intensity that we had. We had a really good game plan and everybody executed really well. It seems like we've just gotten better week by week."

While he was expected to have a good year defensively, Brooks was forced to step up his running game with the early season loss of quarterback Bronson Valencia to a broken leg.

"I felt as a leadership role, I felt it was better to lead by example," Brooks said.

And so far this season, Brooks had set a good example for the rest of the Rangers to follow.

"This is the year I've looked forward to since I was little," said Brooks, who's had three brothers play for Greenwood, including Jimmy, who graduated last May. "This is the role I've always wanted to fill. Especially with Bronson going down, I felt it was my role to step up and just help the team in any way possible."

Dirtroad, are you logging off when you leave the computer?? If not, you may want to try that first, they may not have your password. If you are, I can help you change your password if you need to.

BTW...thanks for the weekly stats you send me. If possible, could you send them to my email address (I will pm you with that) instead of faxing them.....my fax machine is on the blink and the repairman can't seem to figure out the problem.

If you talk to quailkiller, give him a little message from me. One more PM like the last one he sent me, will land him in ROMland....where there will be NO pardon!!
