FORNEY – Terrance Ross ran for 105 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries as Forney (3-6, 2-2 in District 11-4A), rallied in the second half to upset West Mesquite at City Bank Stadium.
West Mesquitre (6-3, 1-3) took the opening drive 80 yards on 14 plays, all runs, taking a 7-0 lead on Jonathan Mallard's 15-yard run.

West Mesquite, Sports Day's No. 17 in the Class 4A Area Poll, next drive was stopped on 4th/and/1 and Forney marched 47 yards on five plays with Ross scoring from 12 yards out to tie it at 7-7 on the first play of the second quarter.

West Mesquite running back Larry Owens ran 17 tough yards, breaking five tackles, for a touchdown and a 14-7 lead midway through the second quarter. Owens finsihed with 95 yards to lead West Mesquite, who will now miss the play-offs for the eighth consecutive year.

Forney stays alive in the play-off race, but will need a victory at Highland Park for an outside chance at making the play-offs for the sixth straight year. Highland Park currently has a 30 game home winning streak at Highlander Stadium.

the freshman QB did OK, but then again he wasn't asked to do much. but FHS cut down the TOs (the 1 pick was tipped at the line) & penalties & got the win. now all they have to do is break HP's 30 game home winning streak to make the playoffs. not likely, but not impossible either.
