with playoffs coming up, i recommend using priceline for any out of town travelers. Friday night i booked 2 nights at the Omni Downtown Austin for $50 per nt. the expedia rate was $199 per nt. its a 4 diamond hotel. I feel like im doing something illeagal with such a great rate. ive payed more for a Days Inn room. Up till now i always thought it was s dumb service.

my brother-in-law works for a large hotel in downtown houston and when he travels, which is often, that's what he uses...

i hear hotwire is good but they are a little off on the star ratings of the hotels. also heard you can normally get the priceline hotel for about 15% less. i guess id have to try it though to know first hand.

hotwire is really good for flights.. i got a roundtrip ticket home for thanksgiving for $180, and everywhere else was around $350... I thought my computer was messed up until i actually got the tickets

hehe. that was my reaction when i got my verification notice for the hotel. i thought it was a sample notice and that i would later get an email that said the bid was denied.

When Priceline still dabbled in gasoline, I used them regularly. Would get up to .15 off per gallon. Wish they still did it. The one thing I didn't like about using Priceline hotels was you couldn't choose a particular hotel chain. You could choose the number of stars and the area of the city, but that was as close as you could get to choosing a particular hotel.

yeah, that would be a problem if you were a prefered customer for a particular chain. thats why after i made the reservations at the omni, i went to Omni website and registered for prefered customer status. that added 500 miles to my american airlines aadvantage account.

I'll be in Corpus this week in a hotel. I may pick up another night and if I do it will be on priceline.

just remember if your bid is denied, you cant rebid for 72 hours (i think its 72) unless you change your star classification or neighborhood.

I've used priceline for hotels, car rentals and airline tickets and have never been disappointed. I once got a 4 star in Memphis for $28 a night (what a sweet deal). There is a trade-off, you can't choose a particular brand of service but you can't beat the price.

We like Priceline. We got Hyatt at Reunion in Dallas for $50. First bid.

Wow, we did it again. we booked 2 nights in downtown houston at the Hilton Americas for $45 per night. (Friday and saturday nights before valentine's day) It looks like a nice place but time will tell if it was worth it. even the best rates through expedia at that hotel is $170 per night. its a 4 star hotel at motel 6 prices.
