As varsity is the most important, we must also look at our future, the JV. Who has some good JV teams? Whats their record and some amazing things they've done this year?

Looks like the numbers are rising @ Rice and that is great. - 2001 7th grade Cuero played Rice (I guess it was really Garwood, is that right Cheermom?) and won. In 2002, 8th grade Rice didn't have enough players to field a team and 2003 Freshman - not enough to field a team.. Glad to see more participation now. Cuero's JV is doing fine. We had to do quite a bit of "restructuring" due to 6 key players moving up to varsity, but I think we've done a pretty good job. We tied a strong Wharton team 38-38 and lost to Sealy and Sinton and are so far undefeated in District.

In football the three communites play together at the high school . In Volleyball and basketball Eagle Lake plays by themselves and Garwood and Sheridan make up a team. So in basketball and volleyball they do play in Garwood some.

Wharton's JV is looking very strong also. They just have enough to field a team, but are undefeated so far. Except for the tie against Cuero, but they haven't lost a game so far. Their qb was moved up to varsity and the freshman qb was moved up to JV.

Our Freshman are looking strong too. They only have two losses on the books this year, to El Campo in a close one and to Cuero, I believe. These were their first two games and they've been winning ever since.

Let me guess, Scrub, you don't care about your JV getting beat by Wharton 40-0; because your varsity won 30-7, and that is where it really counts, right?

See, you should be thanking me for saving you the typing and saving you from carpel tunnel syndrome, or however you spell it.

I don't think the Barbers Hill JV has lost a game in about three years.

of course he cares about the JV scores...if not why is he reading the thread....i think that he is just looking for something to complain about.

scrub c
10-26-2004, 09:52 AM
Now why would I complain?

JR HI 7thA lost a couple
JR HI 7thB lost a couple
JR HI 8thA 1 loss to needleville
JR HI 8thB unbeaten
our frosh 1-7
Our jv is 1-7
Varsity 7-1

So, are you saying we will be down for the next three years??????
Go get your shinebox, hide and watch.

How can your 7th grade be unbeaten when both our 7th grade A and B teams are unbeaten. There can't be two unbeaten 7th grade A and B teams in the same district, and who have already played each other, now can there.

7th Grade A
Wharton-42 WC-0

7th Grade B
Wharton-42 WC-0

The 8th grade A team was a mighty close one. It was Wharton-2 and WC-0 until about the very last few minutes of that game, when WC scored a td to make it 6-2. Wharton had a good run at the very last by the qb, but he was tackled inside the 5 or 10 yard-line and the boys just couldn't get it in for the td. The 8th grade Wharton team was in the red zone on numerous occassions, but just couldn't get in the endzone. Of course, the same held true for WC. It was a tough defensive ballgame. The game ended with a score of WC-6 and Wharton-2.

Yoohoo, ScrubC, I can't hear you!!!! Yeah, I'm posting again because I'm curious about the two unbeaten 7th grade A and B teams in the same district.

Thanks Raider Red, it sure is good to be back. I had a minor setback, took the loss to hard, but now I'm back with a vengence. It looks like Wharton has a lot to look forward to for the next several years to come!

actually, I remember last time you guys came over to play here, Your cheerleaders spelled it wrong too. I think it said, and I quote, "beat Colubia". We laughed for 15 minutes before the game, could hardly keep a straight face during the anthem.

Shepherd Football Program is doing very well.

The varsity is 6-2 with their two losses to Silsbee(18-2) and Kirbyville(14-6).
The JV is also 6-2. Last week the freshman and JV had to combine and play Kirbyville who only had one team and they looked very impressive.
The freshman is 6-1 with their one loss being a close game.
Last year the only team with a winning record for shepherd was the Jv who went 8-2. Now all of the teams are on their way to a great year. It looks like the shepherd program is on the rise

yah those teams sound real good but dont forget those silsbee tigers jv team, they have been district champs since the 7th grade and this year they are still undefeated in district, so they have a good future towards them. some of the best players on jv are harper, blythe, molina, mullens, cravy, elam, tanton, sanchez, hargrave, white, fisher, so look out for these guys.

Hey bird07 yall do have a good bunch there. I remember playing yall back in 7 grade for our first game. And if i belive right we came out on top. That would be our soph. class this year. Which most are on JV except for about of dozen or so that are on the sophmore team. But out of that bunch that was playing on that day there is 5 of them starting on varsity. O ya what ever happend to Rockey Calhoon? He was yals best athlete.

WO-S' JV and Freshmen teams are looking pretty good. Loads of talent.

JV is 5-2 overall, 5-0 in district
Freshmen are 6-0, 6-0 in district

Like I said, there is a ton of talent waiting to burst on the scene. They'll just have to wait their turn. We're excited! Especially since we'll have Kenneth "Deion" Beasley coming back next year! Phenomenal athlete.
