Over the years it seems like many teams meet many of the same teams regularly in the playoffs. Does your team have a particular playoff rival? Up until the last couple of years, it seems like the Bull's playoff road went through Vernon several years.

Seems like Iowa Park has played Ballinger 5 or 6 times since the mid eighties in the first round. won't happen this year though as IP will open with district 6.:)

The most extreme example I know of is not 3A, but LaMarque beat Dennison 3 years (95',96',97') in a row for the Div2 4A state championship.

Well, let's see. Our team has been to the playoffs two years in a row, for the first time in 18-20 years. Both years we've played Yoakum, so I guess they would be the closest thing to a playoff rival we have.

Most likely, if Yoakum makes it & we both win round 1.

Closest one we have is Burnet. Guess we won't get another shot at them any time soon.

not really a playoff rival so to speak, but rockdale and marlin have lined up against each other a few times. when i was there they beat us in game one of the year, and we beat them in the second round of the playoffs later. then met again in the playoffs again the next year i think.

All three of those years Calallen fell to LaMarque in the Semifinals. Calallen wound up losing five in a row to LaMarque in the Semifinals when it was all said and done.

Vernon's would have to be Southlake Carroll. These two schools met three times in 4 years (I believe). (Carroll took 2 of them). Vernon won state the year that they beat Southlake. Since Carroll is now 5A I have a feeling that a Sweetwater/Vernon rivalry would be a good one. They met last year in a really tight game Vernon sqeeking by. They also played in non-district and the game was cancelled due to bad weather after Vernon was up by 7. The year before Sweetwater beat Vernon at home by 6. So these two teams seem to be building something. Bad thing this year was that they didn't schedule each other in non-district this year year or next.

Bridgeport and Kennedale kept bumping into each other a few years ago... Some pretty good games.

Maybe not quite a rivalry, but Bellville and Marlin have played two of the best games you could ask for against each other.
