The only way i see K'ville winning this one is if they come as ready to play as they did against us. And i dont see that happening, i figure that was one of those games that....when its your rival, everythings out the window. So i say Silsbee by 2 td's, but good luck to k'ville anyways.

The Cats in a close one. This is going to be a very tough game for both teams but the cats are hungry. I've watched the Cats win on the road, in the rain, and come from behind. They can run, pass, and kick. It's going to come down to wich team plays as a team. The oldest football saying is "stars shine but teams win". ;)

We are improving each week, so far nobody has shut down our veer and the defense is better and better each week, last week buna couldn't even think of scoring on us, the week before we felt bad because we scored 41 points in the 1st quarter against coldsprings, so we played with our second team the rest of the game, and the week before we gave shepherd the 2 point intentional saftey.........WERE HUNGRY TO WIN!!!

I heard the deepsnapper overshot the punter. How is that intentional?

If you're backed up deep in your end of the field and you don't have a great punting game, the coach could have the deep snapper snap the ball over the punter's head for a safety. Let them have 2 points and you get to kickoff from the 20 yardline. This way you won't have to take the chance of a blocked punt or very poor field position. I've seen it done before.

Thanks jdog, but I was being sarcastic. I inquired about this point when I was speaking with my Silsbee connection. They weren't pinned deep. It wasn't one of those situations where you should take a safety for field position purposes. It should have been 18-0 or even worse. Silsbee's defense is pretty stingy. Big strong d-line.

Was the Kirbyville win over Jasper a fluke? YES! You don't go out and lose to Bridge City and then beat Jasper without something going seriously haywire. Silsbee will win this game, IF And only if this Silsbee team is for real. I have seen teams go to the playoffs that have lost to 1-9 teams...so yeah it does happen. That team was WOS in '91. They lost to Vidor who went 1-9, and then WOS ran the table in district. Was the Vidor game a fluke ...HELL YEAH. Same as the Kirbyville/Jasper game...it happens

I'd like to think it was a "wake up" call. K-ville did things in that game i had never seen them do before or after.

I caught the Jasper/Kirbyville game because I was in the area at the time. Since that game I have been paying a little more attention to Kirbyville. I don't know enough about either team to make a pick here. In my opinion, if a team with a good program(numbers, athletes, coaches) drops a classification(4a to 3a), they should compete for a state championship. Silsbee should be the favorite just because of numbers. It's a lot easier to find 11 athletes in a school with 1000 students, than it is in a school with 400. That is what was so amazing about the Jasper game. Jasper's athletes were superior to Kirbyville's. Kirbyville plays good ball, and has what it takes to knock off big schools. Silsbee also is a quality team. This could go either way. Whoever scores the most points will win. lol. Good luck to both. Just stay healthy for the playoffs.
