My how times are changing. Sinton vs. Mathis tonight and with little or no hype! I'm use to this game determining the district champ, not Ingleside!
What happened to the Rivalry? Remember in 2001 when the RB from Mathis was quoted in the CC times saying Alaniz was basically a pud and how they were going to shut him and Sinton completely down. Sinton ended up steam rolling them that night, but because the game was a rivalry it had a different atmosphere and was played with great enthusiasm and intensity. The rivalry brought out the competitiveness in both teams/towns and made for great Friday night football games. I miss that kind of rivalry.
I know Mathis will play Sinton hard has every town in the district does, but it just doesn't feel the same! Don't let your guard down Pirates! Mathis would love nothing better then to beat you in your own backyard. Play hard and stay focused for 4 quarters! GOOD LUCK PIRATES!:D :D
