Which teams haven't made the playoffs in a long time and have a chance this season? I like to pull for these teams, as long as they don't knock the Bulls out. Fun to watch the whole town get excited about high school football once again.

You keep saying that. But at 2-0 right now all they have to do is win 1 more and they could be in.

They are only 2-0 because they played the two weakest teams first. They don't stand a chance against Gainesville, Pilot Point or Sanger. They have won their last game in 2004.

I bet they get outscored in their last three games. 100-20

Your so sure about it. Maybe so but now you have laid out a table setting for a big dinner of Crow Pie of which I will be glad to be your server!

PPHSfan:

I'll have to check back later as I have to make a road trip now. Keep up the talk about how good Gainesville, PP and Sanger are.

Keith,

You have been in college for two years now. Learn the difference between then and than.

It's actually more like how Bowie is not very good.

Here are some East Texas schools that havent made it in a few years and have a chance:

Bogota Rivercrest (17-1A)
Last playoff appearance: 1996
Have a chance

Canton (15-3A)
Last playoff appearance: 1998
6-1 record this year, will contend for the district title

Cayuga (21-1A)
Last playoff appearance: 1994
Not likely they will make, but they still have a chance

Cushing (20-1A)
Last playoff appearance: 1997
6-2 record, they are in

Elkhart (21-2A)
Last playoff appearance: 1991
8-0 record, will probably have their 1st undefeated season since 1950

Marshall (17-4)
Last playoff appearance: 1996
Has a very good chance to go to the playoffs this year

Mount Enterprise (20-1A)
Last playoff appearance: 2000
Will probably win their district

Pittsburg (13-3A)
Last playoff appearance: 2000
Will be in the playoffs in what is probably the weakest 3A district in the state

Redwater (16-2A)
Last playoff appearance: 1993
6-1 record this year, they look to be able to get in

Scurry-Rosser (14-2A)
Last playoff appearance: 1999
6-1 record this year, they look to be a lock to get in

Tyler Chapel Hill (15-3A)
Last playoff appearance: 1996
Still has a shot at getting in this year

Warren (23-2A)
Last playoff appearance: 1990
Not a very good team, but being in a weak district may get them in

That's the only time we've been since 1964. Does anyone on the board remember how far we went 40 years ago?

Luling (26-3A) has a chance, in my opinion. I think it has been since like '86.

Canton made the playoffs last year. They beat Crandall in the first round, but lost to Tatum in the second round. They finished the season 8-4. That was only their 3rd ever playoff appearance.

We have a winner. Beeville was the Class A state power from this area back then. We were actually a Cinderella team in '62, as we were picked by most to only be the third-best team in the district. We lost two non-district games, but won our district and went on to upset Beeville in the '62 playoffs to move on, eventually getting blown out by Rotan. In '63, we entered the season ranked in the top five in the state, but failed to make the postseason. Then in '64, we again came out of nowhere with a core group of seniors who came together to dominate. Again, we had to get through Beeville to make it to State. We didn't hit a roadbump until the last game. We made the Finals for the second time in three years, but we never got that trophy.

Breckenridge still has a shot at it.. but they either have to beat Graham or Iowa Park to get in. They have not made the playoffs in a few years.
