Despite outshooting the Tigers 16-5, the No. 6 Aggies fell, 2-1, to Missouri in front of 2,138 fans at the Aggie Soccer Complex on Friday.

“We came out and played hard,” A&M head coach G Guerrieri stated “but they were more dangerous than us tonight. We had several good opportunities but were unable to capitalize on them.”

Missouri took the early lead in the match when Jennifer Nobis connected with a loose ball off a corner kick in the fifth minute.

Texas A&M junior Emily DeWoody (Murphy, Texas) brought the Aggies even on her first goal of the season when she hit a header off a corner from Kat Krambeer (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) in the 36th minute. DeWoody beat backup goalkeeper Kira Reyes after she entered the game for ejected starter Laura Buehrig. Buehrig was ejected in the sixth minute when she took down Madison Klovstad (Orange, Calif.) on a breakaway inside the Missouri box.

Tiger forward Amber Swineheart scored the deciding goal in the 68th minute with a shot from the top of the 18-yard box..

Aggie freshman midfielder Amy Berend (Highland Village,Texas) nearly tied the game with 2:09 left when she ripped a shot from 25 yards out that hit the crossbar in the top left corner of the goal.

DeWoody, who anchors the Aggie defensive backline, was named the State Farm Player of the Game.

With the loss, the Aggies fell to 12-4-0 overall and 7-1-0 in league play while the Tigers improved to 6-8-1, 4-4-0.
