Scrub Oak School House's game with Trickham High tonight should be a barn burner. Both teams are fighting to stay in contention for a play-off spot in District 67, North Zone/Group B. Each team won their district opener last week. The Fightin' Acorns slipped by the Gnus of Needmore 10-7, while Trickham beat Grinder's Switch like a borrowed goat. The Fightin' Acorns will have to solve the deceptive alignments and plays that are a trademark of the Chicken Hawks of Trickham. Chicken Hawk coach, Virgil Titslow, is a master of deception and uses it well. Scrub Oak is healthy and playing well according to Coach Phil Howse and his able assistant Charlie Hoarce.

Now is this the same Scub Oak team that lost 45- 14 last year in the class B quarter finals to our Fightin Mesquite Springs Thorns.
Good bunch of kids for East Texas midgets
Our Mesquite Thorns are looking forward to another run in the playoffs this year.
We had a kid move in from Buffalo- Waller. 6-6, 245lbs seems his daddy got a job out at Bob Grandys "Fullobull" fertilizer farm.

It sure is!! Wow, how time flys! Remember that Linebacker Bertha Whitmore? She was something for the Thorns. I think she had three kids in the stands as a junior.

Does Scrub still quick kick on first down? That was a weapon back in the old days. Everybody loved it.

Bertha and her second husband are living out near the composte heap on the down wind side of Mesquite Springs running a bed and breakfast
We play the Sand nats of gravel hill tonight should be a walk for our kids, provided that Sammy-Joe Baker gets out of jail in time for the kickoff, nothin serious just a disorderly conduct charge seems he and Decon Jones' boy was fightin over Tommy Leddbetter's cousin again
